Default Speedy ES

It's not often that this happens given the fact that the ES is generally not driven fast on the roads (to me, "fast" is going at least 10 over the limit). However tonight, on the way back from Boston to my home (~2.5 hrs on the road), around a little after 10PM, a '02/'03 ES300 zoomed past by me on the highway. Now I generally do leisure driving at nighttime, but having owned my '01 ES for 2 weeks so far, I figure this should be a good time to follow that ES and test out the 210 HP engine under my hood. So I "caravaned" with the car for about 25 miles, going about 85-90 mph on avg in a 65 zone (at one point we reached 110), and we slowed down a few times within 1000 ft of the "speed trap" points (which obviously tells me he's driven this part of the highway many times before). The cabin in my '01 ES is much quieter than my old ES when going at high speeds, and the acceleration is definitely there. Eventually we headed in different directions, and if it were daytime, I'd drive close by and give the driver the thumbs-up

What a way to close the day... So has anyone ever sped with another ES before?

I guess it's all relative to what you're use to. I hate driving in the North East. 55 sucks. I could never put up with traveling so slowly (or the mass traffic) I'll stick to Alabama and midwest/southwest.

Going from Birmingham-Gadsten I stay around 120 only slowing down for curves and Birmingham to Tuscaloosa "slow" left lane traffic moves 85. Police won't touch you I20/59 south from Birmingham unless you're booking 95+ through the cities. (btw road construction sucks... speeds are slow I20/59 north and south, but you haven't lived until you've done atleast 100 with a 6 foot retainingwall 16 inches from the yellow line!)

One thing I would strongly advise against is doing that in packs of cars racing.

I've got news for all... It's not who has the fastest car that wins 70% of any street racing... It's who dose the stupider move at the end to get ahead...

If you are going to be traveling above (example) 80, don't tailgate, and don't cut people off... The law of averages will catch up to you someday, and with those kinds of impacts, You won't be walking away any time soon...

Down here where police will spot you atleast 5-10 mph nearly anywhere but small towns, driving ultra aggressively will get you a quicker, larger ticket than somple speeding. (btw, tack that 15mph over a speed limit for reckless driving also...)

Never ran with an ES, but I did kill my best friend's '01 Entrepid which is supposed to have 5 or 10 horses more(but weighs more too). We ran neck to neck about a quarter mile, then I pulled on him majorly! My days of running hard left when I got rid of my Vette but those days will come back around.
