Default Key programing

Just bought a 2009 ES350.

It only came with one key. Keyless system, with push to start button.

I bought a brand new key with cut metal back up key.....but since the dealer is an hour and half away, had them mail it to me...and just got it today. They wanted me to bring the car to them to program it, but dont have time do it any time soon.

So......can I program this key without taking it the Lexus dealer? The local Toyota garage said they could, but I had to make an appointment...and its two weeks away.

Is there a way for me to do it myself? Possible at all?

Thank you in advance.

You will not be able to program it.

You have to bring it to a dealer for chip programming. This is a common occurrence, either dealers don't explain thoroughly or buyers are understandably skeptical of what they're told. Just pay the fee and move on, there's no inexpensive way around this.
