Default Keyless Entry problems

Hi guys,

New to Lexus and I received a fob with my 97 but it does not work, so I put new batteries in it and the tested for the signal coming from the remote shows that it is functioning properly. The problem is that I can not get the car to go into programming mode to make sure it's programmed. The security light comes on properly when I lock the car and get out, the key I have must be the master because I will open the door, trunk glove box, start the car, etc.

So far I have tried all of these:

Checked all fuses - all good
tried programming mode 20+ times (manual lock and power door lock button methods) - will not work
researched the heck out of this issue and can only find remote programming guides.

Help me out guys. I'm slamming my head against the wall over here.

Welcome to the club.

You must have at least One working master key in order to program additional master keys. If you're trying to program your only master key, you can not.

I'm not trying to program a key. I'm trying to program a fob. I have a master key. It's the only key I have for it.

UPDATE:

So I have taken the entire security ECU out, inspected the PCB and everything is just fine on the board. I still can not get the car to go into programming mode no matter what I try. The alarm works perfectly, the car wouldn't start without the ECU plugged in just like it should.

Any tips?

Will do. Not sure why I haven't already given that a try.

I seriously can't believe that worked, but taking the entire ECU out didn't.

Anyway, Thanks! My car is officially almost perfect.

It was a long shot, but glad to hear it worked for you.

Ugh. So now that I have it paired, it worked awesome for about a week, then it decided to work just randomly since yesterday. No specific pattern of when it works. Also, if it doesn't work, I can get in the car, turn the ignition, take the key back out, and it magically works again.

Possibly the battery having issues?

TIA
