The only thing they are good for is covering your maf sensor in oil.

In all seriousness, there is a few people who swear by them. I've stuck with OEM filters thus far, and plan on sticking with OEM in the future.

I have a K/N drop in filter in my 02 ES. I haven't noticed a difference in performance or gas mileage. Save yourself some money and stick with OEM.

liking these replies!! I've put K&N in several quads, diesel trucks, etc... Lots of claims and maybe they actually work on a dyno by a small fraction, but i can't see any difference operating the unit. PITA to clean. takes almost a day to dry it... then you have to oil it, but not over-oil it....

What about FRAM air filters?

I bought one and it feels so cheap like foam and paper. There are less folds than the FRAM filter filter that came with my car.

Is it worth an extra $11 to get an OEM one from the stealership?

not sure what I removed from my car...thinking it was OEM toyota filter. I put i n Fram or Purolator...WOW...it is like you describe...flimsy nothing. must be better air flow since there's no filtration!! I think the OEM would be worth the extra $11.
