Default K&N air filter ...

Would you recommend putting K&N air filter on LS430? Does it really make any differences? Thanks.

Please do a search on your question ... There are many opinions this topic.

Personally, forget it.

Well, there is a negative side of allowing more airflow to the engine... and that is dirt and other unwanted particles intruding. I personally wouldn’t do it.

I remember Mike (RA40) said after using K&N, he had lab work done on his oil, only to show more unwanted particles in his oil.

K&N is not a product for everyone for sure. One of the biggest complain is that K&N oil clog up MAF. Probably up there with letting in dirt particles.
IMHO, if one is dumb enough to over-oil, MAF can be clogged. However, Toyota air filter also lets in dirt particles. Otherwise, no OEM air filter user should ever report a MAF or IACV clogging problem. Do a search you will find many CL threads such as this

Here, at least two owners used nothing but OEM filter but still have a CEL code thrown at them because of clogged MAFs.
Some say better air flow is not that big of difference with K&N. But think about it, if air flow is not important as filteration, why do people replace filter in the first place? Clogged up filters will achieve the best filteration. If one's filter is clogged up like a brick wall, zero harmful particle will come into the engine, then engine won't start either since there is no air.
Last, when one looks at oil analysis, make sure to subtract Si that already in the virgin oil. Yes, silicon is part of additive package, Redline's 5w30 has 9 ppm Si.
