Default 2001 es300 value?

im looking to buy an es300 the nicest one i have found within 100 miles is a 2001 coach edition with 145k miles. it has a clean carfax and has 2 owners the second owner bought the car from lexus as a certified pre owned car in 2003 and has had the car maintained at the lexus dealer ever since. the car is in very good shape and tires are new interior is 8.5/10 exterior has minnor scratches. he is asking 5800 i test drove it and got him down to $5200 is that a fair price?? or is that too much money??? he says he is firm on that.. thanks for the help

I paid more then that for my 2000 ES300 with 128k on it. Not a coach or platinum edition, just a plain old ES. I think that's an excellent price for that vehicle. I'd buy it...

I spent way more than that (in total) fixing up my beat up 98. It's an excellent price.

I paid quite a bit more than that for my 01 with less miles. But I am wishing now I bought with a little more miles for less money and the timing belt already done. As long as that has been done and the car is straight and solid that is a good price.

Done at 90k miles. If it hasn't been done it would still be worth it to buy the car and get the timing belt done. That's a heck of a price and the car should be very reliable for far more than 2 years. You should be able to take the vin number and check at lexus.com and see if it was done at the dealer or not.

Is this the one? http://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/3168936541.html

This is the same one I looked at a month ago, almost drove it home too. I even had the plates off of it, and delivered to my uncle's house. LOL

Try opening the passenger side rear door from the inside...See what happens. Nothing!

Also, when i test drove it, I noticed the front rotors were warped. Pop the hood and check the coolant level, because when I looked at it the overflow pot was empty.

He tried selling it for $5800 to me, but then i saw the problem with the rear door, and the few interior stains. Just another thing to note, it will need four lug nuts, one on each wheel. If I remember correctly, the front passenger tire was worn a little. Probably an alignment issue. Besides everything I listed here, I don't remember seeing anything else wrong with it.

For $5k, it's a good deal, and probably as good as it gets.

Yes thats the one. Thanks for the heads up dude. Yea i never tried the back seat door from the inside thanks for telling me. The inside is pretty clean maybe he cleaned it after you and it looked like the overflow had coolent im no expert on brakes but when i drove it it seemed like a solid car did u notice any other problems??

You're welcome. Yeah, it's possible he had the coolant topped off, and he likely cleaned the car after I showed him the stains. Maybe he fixed the door too, but unlikely, as he acted like he didn't even know it was broken.

Nothing major, the rear strut mounts are making noise. It will need to have that replaced in the future, might as well do the struts at the same time.

The steering wheel is making a whining noise, but that's a quick fix. Just spray some silicone lubricant down where the steering column meets the firewall.

Aside from the stuff listed above, it seemed pretty solid.

EDIT: Something else that I just remembered, it's probably something minor. The "brake light warning" light came on. He went to the trunk and just banged on the lights, and wiggled the wire, the light went off.The warning came on again at the end of the test drive, and he did the same thing. So, I'm not sure what's up with that. I verified that all of the bulbs work though. Also, the rear license plate screw is stuck, so you may need to drill it out, or take a set of vice grips with you. I wasn't able to get it out, because I didn't take a pair of pliers with me.
