Our 2005 ES330's battery would not even turn the starter over last night. It is the original battery so I thought if I could recharge it enough to start I would drive down to the local AutoZone and buy a replacement. After 4 1/2 hours on the recharger the engine turned over and I was able to get to AutoZone. Got a Duralast Gold 24 DLG for $90 and installed it at the front door of AutoZone. 10 mm wrench is all you need. Also got the felt washers that go over the battery posts and the grease that you smear on top of the terminals. Radio did not loose any memory and I reset the moon roof as instructed on page 98 of the manual. Push the tilt button forward until the roof tilts up and then settles down a fraction of an inch. Then open and close the roof. Reset all the windows by opening and closing from each door. Everything seems good. I'm just glad that the battery went south in my garage instead out on a parking lot in the middle of no where.

 

That's odd. I thought batteries were specifically designed to die a minimum of 20 miles from home.

 

My 05 original battery died last week -- must be on a timer!

 

My neighbors battery in their Acura went south and they had AAA come out and install a new one for them in their garage. I think it is about a 2005. Back in the old days a battery that would go more than 3 1/2 years was pretty good. Looks like today if you get 5-6 years out of your OEM battey that is par for the course.

My 04 ES battery lasted about 6 years. Died about 5 miles from my home. Replaced with Interstate.

 

I just replaced my 2006 ES330 original battery. With the sound system, AM/FM work fine, as does single disc player in dash. 6 disc player and my Ipod extra I had installed via the sat nav route are no longer recognized when I try the Mode button.

Any assistanc would be greatly appeciated!

 

I've had to put three batteries from Lexus in my "04 ES330 in just two years!! Luckily they all died in the garage. My Lexus dealer was only too happy to send the tech out to replace each time and then suggested I take the car to the dealer for a full electrical check.
Yesterday I did and everything's fine. I mentioned that i think they purposefully make bad batteries to get us into their shop. I got no answer; just a roll of the eyes.
I'm putting a six month note on my calendar to get an Interstate.

 

You might have a parasitic draw on the battery. You should measure the amps at the battery after shutting the car off and waiting about an hour. Something like a stuck memory seat button will drain your battery over time.

This is excluding the fact that you could be leaving your dome lights on for too long or playing the radio without the engine running, etc.

 

you get what you pay for in batteries. 3 batteries in just 2 years? something wrong. My OEM battery lasted almost 7 years.

 

We bought our 2000 ES300 in the summer of 2007. It had a diehard Gold in it. I just replaced it this AM at Advance. I think it was in the car for at least a yr, maybe 2, before we bought the car so it was past due. I noticed it was cranking as strong last week. Well, we got back from a trip yesterday and after it sat in the driveway all weekend, it wouldn't turnover last night. Put a charger on it overnight and got it to Advance this AM.

Knew the battery was toast as the lights on the radio, etc. were pulsating on the interior and the shifting was horrible from 1-2 and 2-3. It would bump-bump-bump then shift. I was just hoping I didn't damage anything in the tranny on my 20 mile trip to Advance via my work commute. Got the battery changed out and the shifting is back to normal. Luckily, it was a pretty steady drive and I didn't hit many lights where I had to come to a stop or get into that low of a gear.

My Lexus wouldn't start in the sub-zero cold yesterday, so I boosted it and moved it into the shop. To my surprise I found it's the original Panasonic. 184,000 KM. I don't know exactly when the car was built, but that battery's pushing 10 winters of service. By any standard that's pretty good battery life.

My original Panasonic lasted more than 200,000 km and 9 years before it showed signs of dying last year January.

 

I've been lucky. Last three batteries I had go bad happened in my driveway. The last one was the battery in my 2005 ES330. I had the car less than a month when it died.
