Default kyb gr2 struts...

i was thinking about picking up these kyb gr2 struts for my es..i was wondering others thoughts on them..i don't have a ton of money to buy the expensive coilover set up so for 260.00 bucks i figured the kyb's would be ok. But before i buy i would like to know if anyone else has used them or heard anything good/bad about them.

I've heard good things about the KYBs. However I don't have any experience with them. Search the threads here on CL and I'm sure you'll find something.

And PS - Since you're upgrading your struts, you're going to upgrade your springs too (assuming you want to lower your ride)?

Be sure to replace your strut mounts as well.

KYB's are what most of the OEM Toyota struts are. Your basically reaplicing them with OEM ones if you use KYB. I;d recommend KYB mounts too, and they come with the front bearings.

Would it be bad if you just replace the springs and not the struts?

If your at 179k miles, and your struts are original, they are DEAD! Your actually riding on your springs and all the struts are doing is holding everything in place.

Do it all at once, springs, kyb struts, and all new mounts F & R.
And yes the KYB GR2 works well.
Many here run the Tanabe or Tein springs.
