Its what i am here for! Help for a fellow forum user.
Ariyanna, why did you go back to the factory sub and HU? BTW, just want to say thanks on the link for the used OEM amp on ebay. I bought it and got it in two days and installed it this past weekend and works great with my aftermarket low wattage sub. Thanks bro.........
What low wattage sub did you go with?, I sold the radio and sub to pay for the damages.
I went with a JL Audio 4 ohm sub from Crutchfield, rated at 35 - 100 RMS. I was able to install the amp you found on ebay and the JL sub, works great, didnt blow my amp this time. I also installed some Dynamat on the underside of the rear deck, from the trunk to clean up the bass and make it sound cleaner. Sorry to hear you had to sell your stuff.

Why would you with dynamat? lol.
What a waste of cash. First of all its in your head, don't lie to yourself. Second, simply doing the rear deck lid would yield no benefit to it, in order to have a super clean system you would have to do the entire trunk to quiet that down and insulate it. Last, the reason i am saying this, is because no matter what you do a free air sub, is a free air sub, it is not going to outperform a boxed unit any day... That's why i mean you should do the entire trunk as that plays as the 'box', not just one portion of it.
Regardless, if you got it for cheap, props, if not, sorry to hear you wasted you money on it...

I know its a free air sub, I wasnt looking to make it sound like a boxed unit. I have two Alpine 10 inch subs in a closed box and it rattles everything in my other car. I was just looking to replace the stock sub, not after the thumping or rattling sound. The dynamat was to quiet down the vibrations I was getting from the aftermarket sub on the rear deck. Now, with the vibrations gone, the bass sounds cleaner and as far as the rest of the trunk, its already insulated and doesnt rattle, so no need to dynamat the rest of the trunk.
