Default DVD Audio Experiences

My Fellow ES 350 Members:

How many have experienced DVD audio with their ML sound systems?

If so, would you mind sharing the artist you are listening to and where you purchased your DVD audio (including the price paid)?

Thank you.

2008 ES 350, Royal Ruby, UL, Cashmere, XM, BSM ordered, but on hold.

I wasn't aware that the ML system could play DVD Audio disc's(DVDA)?? In fact, nothing was mentioned in the Owners Manual about reproducing this format.

My manual says it can. Maybe it's updated for 2008? I dunno about the DVDA format off the top of my head, but I remember the part about the changer playing cds, dvd video, and dvd audio. I haven't tried anything out besides the fm radio tho. Too cold.

Sorry, I was mistaken. The Mark Levinson player CAN play audio DVD's(DVDA)!
I was looking in the Owners Manual for the Lexus standard radio, instead of the Navigation Manual which includes all the Mark Levinson System features.

I can confirm that you can, I have some. If you put the car in park and set the brake, you can also view any visuals that the artist placed on the disk as well.

These disks are actually demo disks that I was given on my 2004 Acura TL, so I did not pay for them. However, I have seen some in the stores and they are not much more money than your standard CD.

I gotta say, the sound is amazing. Worth the $$

I don’t know your experience with good audio, but search out good recorded music (not only DvA’s)and you will be rewarded through any nice system.

Here are some of my favourites; keep in mind my tastes are not yours, so if you can sample first before purchasing, for I have bought many cds on recommended music and lost.

Sorry, not DvA’s

Patricia Barber: Modern Cool
Robbi Robinson: and Red Road Ensemble, Music For Native Americans
Dire Straights: any
Dave Matthews: Crash
Bruce Cockburn: Stealing Fire

On the demo disk that Acura gave me, they played the same song with and without the DVDA quality. The surround sound on the DVDA is amazing. But, I agree, a great CD also sounds fantastic on the ML system. Hey, my XM radio sounds great on it too!

Best Buy has a decent selection for about $10 - 25 depending on the specifics, I recommend the DVD-A of Pink Floyd's "The Wall."

Thanks to all that replied. I really appreciate your input.

I'm loving my 2008 ES 350, Royal Ruby, UL, chrome wheels, Auto Armor, clear bra, 35 percent tinted windows, and XM radio.

There sure are a lot of "haters" out there, if you know what I mean.

Atomic, be careful with those positive comments about your car. You don't want to be accused of being a "cheerleader".

I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I have been called a 'cheerleader', but I think those that use the term are just jealous that they never had a cheerleader...

Any other recommendations for DVD Audio discs? I really wanna check out the Acura sample disc. So far, to my untrained ear, I can't here anything special from my ML system. Hrry Potter sounded ok, but it's not that great for sound and I have no other car with dvd to compare to.

I bought "Black&White Night" by Roy Orbison in DVD Audio last year on the internet from Amazon. Not many stores carry DVD audio so the past source is the internet.

I ordered Metallica. We'll see how that goes. I just can't bring myself to shell out over $10 for a classical music CD. Maybe if they had Josh Groban or something, but the selection's pretty limited.
