Hi, everybody. Just joined the forum. I own a 2006 ES330 which is the love of my life. Previously, I owned a 1990 ES300 and a 1999 ES300. The '90 had a 5-speed stick shift. I'd gladly pay extra if I could still get one on the ES. The IS is a bit small for my needs. I look forward to reading about the experiences of others with this fine machine.

Well... The new v6's still use the same old bolting, bellhousing & flexplate/flywheel patterns.
You could stick an E transmission in it if you wanted too... Just have to ground out the shift solenoids & wheel speed sensor so the ECU thinks it's in neutral all the time.

Oh, and sometimes the automatic ECU's will want to stall rolling to a stopsign b/c they think there isn't a load when there's a big load. So you'll have to slow down in 2nd gear, then shift to neutral & finish the rest with the brakes

But that's just driver re-adjustment. :P

You're right, Choas. I just "Googled" Lexus 1990, 1991 and 1992, and discovered the ES300 first appeared in 1992. I'm certain my first Lexus was a 300, so I'm now guessing it was a '92, not a '90. I can find no records of that car, so my only explanation is that my memory is failing me, not unusual at my age.
