Default Broken Windshield

Hi Guys,

Well, as BB King would say,...."The thrill is gone", well kind of? Our beautiful new ES350 suffered it's first major disaster when a rock bounced up from a truck tire and put an ugly crack in the center of our windshield. It's been about two weeks now; and, I think our dealer has the replacement glass in now. However, as lots of things about this new model are a little "strange", it seems the glass is no exception? To wit, I think there are about three different windshields available for the ES350 ranging in price from about $1200-$1400. I also "think" the choice of windshields has to do with the kinds of features your particular car has, e.g., memory seats, side-impact air bags, etc. The dealer is researching to insure the one they received is the correct one for our Premium Plus, Nav, etc. model. Note: Any ideas/info on the subject is both solicited and desired. I'll also let you know how it goes from my end. Thanks and Be Well,
The Redman

Rain sensing wipers ...

Seem like the dealer is insuring the correct one is installed

Good luck with the repair.

I think Tammy hit on it... it makes sense that the rain sensing wipers would require glass with particular electrical properties or to have a particular coating.

Usually all the dealer has to do is enter the vehicles VIN and the correct windshield part number will come up for that vehicle.

Been there, done that. My car needed a windshield and it was only 2 weeks old. Only two types of windshields available, one for the Rain sensing (has the bracket and extra dotting design for sun blockage) and one for no rain sensor. That's it.
Also, hopefully your dealer gets the right trim for the windshield. There are multiple trim/gasket packages available as well. One for UL package (with the panaramic glass roof) and one for the "regular" cars.
