The Good: The rubber material is thick and appears durable. The included 2 stainless steel clamps are the crimp-style Oetiker clamps (which I prefer) rather than the strap-style clamps.
The Concerns: The split CV boot joint consists of a very shallow tongue-and-groove design. The overlap is just 1mm. The tongue sticks out 1mm and the groove is 1mm deep. See attached photos. This minimal overlap area is a durability concern (?) because it does not provide much surface area for the adhesive to stick both sides together. Also, the split joint does not stay together on its own (due to shallow tongue-and-groove) so the joint needs to be held together using your fingers while the glue dries (this is confirmed in several online DIY videos). Although some people have had very good results with this product, I decided to return it (Amazon) due to these concerns and replaced my inner CV boot using the HippoRed 80mm boot which had 4mm overlap at the tongue and groove joint which is much more robust and holds together on its own when pushed (locked) together so you don't need to hold the joint with your fingers until the glue dries.
Note: The latest superglue for rubber (the new rubberized formula Loctite Ultra Gel Control Super Glue sold in USA) takes quite a while to dry. It was still tacky 2 hours later even though the instructions claim it is dry to the touch after 30 seconds. This glue is identical to the Loctite Super Attak Flex Gel (sold in EU) which came in the HippoRed package.
Also see my other thread on how to use the HippoRed Split CV Boot. It is under the Lexus ES 1st to 6th Gen forum. Bailcast Universal Split CV Boot with 1mm overlap at joint.
