TPMS Light
Hi all,
I recently got a ES 350, last summer in August, I really like it so far. I've gotten a problem in terms of my TPMS light. As long as I looked up, the Toyota TPMS is not actually measure how much pressure there is, but they calculate using rotation of tire and something (which I didn't quite get it). I have changed one of my tire in a week since I get a car because I got a screw on my tire. I was in the island, where there was no choice, so I changed it to winter tire. Since then, when the temperature is over 50 degree, and it's on the highway with speed of over 80 mph, I get tire pressure light. It doesn't happen when it's cold at all. In relatively warm weather, however, I always get the light and the tire pressure on the display doesn't show up. Is there any similar problem with yours? Or is it just me?
I know it's just error of the sensor, which won't have any problem, I still don't feel comfortable with it.
Plus any of you have changed your sunroof motor? I think it's dead.
I'll make another post about it.
Cheers.

You don't mention the year of your car, which would help. This generation and earlier uses a sensor in the tire, not the newer style that uses the ABS tire rotation. The sensors are usually good for about 10 years.
Have you actually checked your tire pressures. You have to realize that the sensor goes on not just when the pressure is low or a bad battery, it will also go on if the pressure is high.
If you do need to have new sensors installed, they will need to be programmed and uploaded to the cars computer through the ODB2 port.

2014 ES350 does use a sensor that provides a readout of pressure on the dash. Not sure your comment “ Toyota TPMS is not actually measure how much pressure there is” is relevant.
Have you reset the TPMS system?
Are you getting readings on some or all of the tires? Does the snow tire have a TPMS? You didn’t say if you put it on the existing wheel, or if it has its own wheel.
As was mentioned have you checked the pressure manually? The problem you describe , getting a warning when it’s warmer, or driving faster which warms up the tire and increases pressure , indicates one or more could be overinflated.
There’s a number of threads on here about TPMS, have a search and a read. how to reset the system is included in some of those, as well as your owners manual, have a read of that too.

it's 2014 model and I regularly checked the tire pressure before winter. Now tire pressure reading does work so I'm able to check it on display. It's all fine I set them up 32psi at 30 F which goes to 36-37 when driving.
I also have checked OBD2, it says there's disconnection on 1,3 TPMS sensor. Does that mean my sensor's battery dead so need to be changed? They've been dead since summer but why do they work in the winter (in 6 months)?
So confused.

I have reseted my sensor couple times, it didn't work well. It was couple months ago when sensors didn't work. I'll try reset them tomorrow and update the post.
Thanks for long reply

Blinks mean the ECU is not getting a signal so those 2 probably need replacement. Since you are not the original owner you don’t know if any have been previously replaced or repaired. Your going to need to have someone with a proper tpms scan tool check for you
No issue with TPMS until I increased just 2 or 3 PSI in mid winter. Then TPMS light starts to come on (blinks then solid) and no more PSI read-out on display.
Is this expected ? if I drop PSI to spec will that get it back to normal ?
