shift cable question

Default shift cable question

i have a 2004 es330 someone gave to me ,they told me the shift cable broke so i took out the center console and i see a cable lose in there laying down but when i shift the gears the car goes int gear so my question is what is the other cable thats laying down in there
I added some photos those white pieces fell of the cable

in that thread on the forth picture not the one with the purple bushing bot the other cable is broken in mine so my question is what is that cable for and whats the name of the cable?

Based on this SCHEMATIC, the cable is called
33880A - CABLE ASSY, PARKING LOCK (FOR FLOOR SHIFT)

Photo 4 you reference, looks like assembly clicks onto a plastic shaft. Can't tell by the picture if its held on by a separate bushing or from a molded piece that's part of of the shifter assembly

Google 2004 es330 shifter assembly. Fair amount of photos on eBay, etc show this

would that cable have anything to do with my car not moving when in gear?

Looks like the other end of cable goes into an electrical connector (shift lock control computer). A guess - this cable tells the computer your shifter position so you cannot remove the ignition key if not in PARK

The other cable is the one that moves the transmission mechanically in/out of PARK
