Default 2004 ES330 Shift cable Replacement 🤦🏻‍♂️

My Stepdaughters 04 ES330 had the Shift cable break and I have removed everything except the 2 10mm bolts under the Center Console/Dash. They are absolutely impossible to get to with a socket or even a 10mm open end wrench. Is there any way to remove them without taking out the whole A/C or Dash ?

Even if you could turn it is there enough room to remove the bolt? Can you get at the other side or is that behind a layer in the firewall.

I have the clearance to remove it after it’s out, but because of the weird angle, not even an open end wrench can get to it. I purchased a $35 swivel 10mm open end wrench with a low profile and that didn’t work Either. I’m stumped on this one 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'd take a 10mm closed end wrench and grind it down to be a slim as possible. Maybe heat and bent it for the best angle. Get creative.

Based on the manual, you do have to remove the AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSY. under the dash

Did the actual cable break or is the bushing end cap that connect to the floor shifter that broke and the cable pops off the floor shifter?

If so, have a look at this thread (s)
