2004 ES 330 Head Unit Dead?
Recently, my head unit (not Mark Levinson) went dead out of nowhere. The screen is dead, no audio and cassette wont eject. I checked the fuses and they don't seem to be blown ( also climate control works).
What should my next steps be?
Is there a fuse within the cd player itself?
Is it possible its just the amp or just the head unit?
If the head unit is dead, is it easier to replace with an aftermarket one or get a used one on ebay?
Thanks in advance

If it's completely dead, I'd remove it, unplug the cables, plug them back in, repeat 3 or 4 times, and turn on the ignition (accessory) and see if it now works. It could just be slight corrosion on the contacts.
On my 2004 ES330 (daughter is now driving) everything worked except the CD player. I like to turn wrenches, so I went to the local LKQ that just so happened to have a relatively unmolested 2003 ES330 (lucky me). I pulled the stereo and swapped it for mine. LKQ only charges $35 for stereos. YAY!

Thanks for the advice.
I took out the cables and plugged them back in. It didn't turn back on and couldn't remove the cassette, but the cd changer started making noises. I'm going to buy a new head unit on ebay to see if that works.

If the take-out head units are expensive, consider upgrading.
ArmyofOne made a post about within the last few months where he got a harness adapter, double din opening OE-look dash trim, and double din stereo ALL for under $200 IIRC. Has blue-tooth, a back-up camera, and looks totally factory. Very impressive.
