Default DD head unit

I was curious as to what you guys all reccomend for a double din head unit. Im looking for one that will be able to play cassettes (lot of old tapes) and cd player. Is there a way for that unit to control the lexus 12 disc ( i heard it is not) Thanks for reading!

I recall hearing something on one of the past threads where someone said it was possible to control the factory changer w/ an aftermarket head unit but i asked the salesman at circuit city and he told me otherwise. So i guess i really didn't answer ur question at all . Oh well i suggest u jus get an aftermarket changer if ur gonna get a new head unit as well. Thats actually the main thing i hate about the stereo system. Takes forever to change CDs.

some brands will control it, but I cant recall which ones, ForNgoods is right though, the changer is slow, not bad, just slow for nowadays standards... you can try the one I've been planning to get ..

That Alpine unit (sold in Japan...dunno if they're going to sell it here...I hope so!) is the best looking double-din unit out there...

If you do get the JDM unit, you can have someone who knows what they're doing change the freq. crystal and you can get American radio stations (their FM is a little different)...

If i bought a double din head unit I would most likely buy this one made by clarion (discontinued which means you might be able to find a good deal on a new one somewhere like ebay) The model # is CLARION MAX2256, I like it because it has a nice big LCD w/ CD behind and tape... you can also use the LCD for watching DVD if you hook one up, maybe a cheepy in your glove box. Thats just my opinion on stereos, I am not really too big in them.

Does anyone know if the OEM Volume controller actually controls the vol on the unit?
