Transmission
This is my last communication for the evening, I have a shot trans. Considering the situation if any of you were in this situation what would be the course of action you would take oh and by the way I'm thinking reliability and cost. Rebuild or overhaul? '95 ES300.
I was quoted $900 for an overhaul, $1500 if the planetary gears were gone, which they were. guaranteed used transmission was $249.
I think most Japanese cars these days you're better off buying used engines and transmissions than rebuilding the ones you have. I had one toyota gearhead tell me the used parts are better quality than the replacement stuff they sell.
But depends on what is wrong with yours? When you say shot, what do you mean?
I've been mechanical all my life, but never been inside an automatic transmission.

I bought it from my wife's brother in law and he doesn't have the patience to work on cars. I looked at it and the axle was have bolted into the transmission and I thought this damage something internal.
