Question Transmission Valve Body

Hi All,

I have a problem with my 93 es with 210,000 miles. It has the A540h auto transmission. The problem is I am getting the 62 OD code for shift solenoid 1 malfunction. I driained the fluid, and dropped the tranny pan and inspected the magnets, nothing but really fine particles (which I cleaned off). I replaced both shift solenoids, filter, and fluid and put it all back together. I am still getting the same code and it still is starting off in 2nd!! I had disconnected the battery while I did the swap to clear everything out. My question is what now? I can manually switch through the gears like I did before but in D the car starts off in what feels like 2nd. Should I take it all apart again and attempt a valve body cleaning? How difficult is that process? I can't seem to find much info on what to do and what is required as far as gaskets, etc. Or would the ECM be a more likely suspect? Any help anyone can give would be great!! I took lots of pictures and was planning on doing a writeup on the solenoid swap when I am done.

Are you sure the codes got cleared with battery removed? Might want to grab a scanner and clear them.

Yes the codes got cleared as I removed the battery cable for over an hour and then removed the ECM fuse as well. The code did not come back on imediately.
