Question How can I set up my amp and sub without buying a new head unit?

I want to install a new sub and amp into my '06 es330 but I don't want to have to buy a new head unit, and I was wondering of it was possible to do this by bypassing the stock amplifier and adding my own. I heard something about tapping into the stock subwoofer wiring, but wouldn't I have to bypass the stock amp as well?

Hey dude, im assuming you figured out just simply running cables from the stock sub to the new amp. or something similar. As for the power cables, run it from the battery (obviously), And look for any rubber circles in the firewall of the car, leading to the interior. Or, if you can, you could run it through the same place as the stock wiring is running (although that can be a pain)

On my car, there was a rubber circle (grommet) just below my steering column, ive cut a hole into that, ran my cable in and put it straight under the carpet, out of the way of the pedals. (safety first.)

Theres still the basic rules, make sure you have an inline fuse near the battery, and that the cable has sufficient insulation.

The rest (like how to run the power to the back of the car) varies hugely on the model, so im afraid i cant help you on that one.
On my '93 though, ive had to take out the back seats, and ran the cable underneath the carpet and then underneath the seats, then through another grommet into the boot/trunk.

Look up online. There are a few aftermarket connections for that
1 you will need to connect the connection to a stock speaker
2 connect the amp to the battery
3 run a wire to the radio, this one is for the radio to tell the amo the radio is on.

You may. We'd a diagram for your car stock factory to assure ou connect the right wire to the amp. It's not too hard. Check a few google searches and see other people set up it may help you with your own.

So I should run a remote wire from my amp to the stock amp so that it knows when to turn on and off?
