Default Stereo update - new head unit, can I use stock amp?

Hello!

I have 1996 gs300 without cd-changer. I'm planning to run pioneer avic and using stock amp to power door speakers. I'll replace the stock sub with 10" aftermarket sub and power it with digital mono amp that gets it's signal from pioneers sub out rca's.

My question: Does that stock amp on my GS use pre-amp input's or speaker-level input? Can I re-wire that stock amp with speaker signal wires from my pioneer, or do i have to wire it with those pre-amp wires from my pioneer?

Huuuuge thanks in advance!

just wire the speakers to run off the aftermarket deck, then run a power to the amp from the battery, and use the sub input RCA's into the back of the factory deck, easiest way, and still very good sound

It's too much work to tear off all the door panels etc, when I can just wire the stock amp with new head unit. Just need to know does that stock amp use line-level input or speaker-level input

all you have to do is run the 4 runs of speaker wire to the back to go to the amp, then you just use a battery and test which one is for each speaker, and tie into the existing wiring that goes to the doors. running 4 runs of wire to the back is easy. the amps have a tendancy to go after time. it was the entire reasoning for me putting a deck into my car, was so i could bypass the amp

The door panels Are a 10 min a piece job, it's much easier to run new wires to the speakers then mess with the ****ty factory amp.... Plus you can control the high, mid, low better with the aftermarket head unit. If it's too much work for you to do that an audio shop will install the bypass kit for around 100 bucks.

I ran new wires from new head unit to trunk and soldered them in to wires that went from the original amp to the speakers. This way I can easily solder those wires back to original if I ever sell the car. Now it plays loud and clear! Thanks for help!

use your av out from pioneer avic and splice them in the radio harness. I have the wiring diagram for it let me know if needed. You will also need noise filters. setup works great.
all speakers will work including sub. only thing i didnt connect yet is the antenna

good luck

I wasn't able to find any wiring diagrams when I installed avic. So like I posted previously, I already did the wiring by running speaker wires from avic to trunk. I cut those original amplifier to speaker wires and soldered them to those new wires from avic.

Also replaced that stock sub with hertz hx300 sub and 500wrms amp.

But when you get your antenna working, could you kindly tell me how you did that. I dont have any wiring diagrams for this car so I have no idea that what wire from antenna I have to connect to avic's remote wire. Thanks in advance!

this is all you should need for wiring your system. I used a aftermarket amp on my stock stereo for a long time and this wire diagram is all i needed
