Default 3rd gen engine into 2nd gen possible?

Hey all!

I have a 1997 es300 that was damaged pretty extensively in the middle of the front bumper which destroyed the subframe, radiator, condenser, etc....

There is a 1994 for sale in the area that has a bad motor. Well, my motor and transmission are perfectly fine. I was wondering if it is possible to straight swap my good engine into the previous generation body without any modification.

Thanks all in advance!

Yup, it can be done without much issue. You'll just need to swap over all the sensors, wiring, and accessories from the '94 engine to the '97.

'94 WAS a 1 year only block though, so there are some very mild differences. BUT, it will not make a difference for the swap. You'll just notice a few differences on the block when you swap everything is all.

95-98 ES300 had the same shortblock. My friend has a '94 and swapped a '95 engine into his car, so that is how I know the minor difference in the block.

I;m not 100% sure on weather or not the tranny is the same though. BUT if the tranny on the '94 is fine, use that one with the '97 engine.

I'm curious if you can use a newer gen engine in a 2001 ES 300? For example like a 2006 or something?

^ Not as a direct swap. Block and heads are different due toi the VVTi oil passage lines (99-06 ES300).

So are the 99-06 VVTi oil passage lines the same? I've got a 2001.

I forgot, the 99-03 engine is a 1MZ-FE 3.0L. The 04-06 is a 3MZ-FE 3.3L.

I can put a Supra 2JZGTE into my car. I just don't have $40k to spend doing it.

All depends how much $ you have. It won;t by any means be a direct swap in with no issues.
