Hey I'm looking at a 1996 ES300 with low miles that has been dealer serviced. However it has the gold emblems and I can't stand them. How can I get silver emblems to replace these and has anyone ever done this? I really want this car and would really hate to not buy it because of the gold emblems.
*I found a chrome emblem set on eBay but how do I remove the old emblems? It says they're double sided tape, would this hold well??

 

You can remove the emblems with a flat screwdriver. I remember taking my old one off, I think it had 4 "teeth" under the front emblem to secure it in place.

 

With a screwdriver? Are you crazy? That's going to end up scratching and possibly damaging the paint finish around the emblems

Anyway, I removed the 'LEXUS' emblem from the rear of my '01 ES with a fishing line and plenty of Goo Gone (adhesive remover). It didn't take much time at all partially because of the hot baking weather occurred at the time, which helped soften the old adhesive.
