I’m on my way to look at a 2016 brown CT 200h. It’s $2000 more than the black 2015 I’m looking at but has half the mileage at 27,500, heating seats and navigation system with better back up camera display.
my question is about the brown exterior. The color seems really out of style as I don’t see any brown cars. I don’t really want a brown car but this is a good deal from a dealer. $1,900 under Carfax value.
Would anyone be concerned about the resale value of a brown car? Is that why it’s a good deal?
Sounds like you don't want brown. Get the black. Unless you're down with brown.
and yes you'd never be able to resell a brown car.
Thanks E46CT....that makes sense....part of the deal is that the black doesn’t have heated seats and I’ve always had them as a long term Volvo driver. I’m not a very good shopper for anything much less a car. It’s not fun for me. Perhaps I’ll pull the plug and get the black.
I agree with E46CT, and I see the dilemma, either you wake up looking at a brown car every day or deal with cold days waiting for the heater to warm up. I feel like the brown car would stay in the lot for much longer so I wonder if the vendor would bring it down to the price of the black. I would wait, other color cars with those options are common, the nicer camera backup display and warm seats are a really nice convenience that you should not be missing from a Lexus car.
don't forget autotrader.com a great way to find used cars. you can sort by color, miles, etc.
No brown car for me, I’ve come to my senses.
The black one is 2015 for $16,988 but just lowered to $16,588 on dealer website. Im not finding anything in the range unless it’s older and high mileage. The 57,677 is about as high as I would like to go. Other prices are $22K and up.
I just ran AutoCheck on the black one and it has a “lien reported” on the DMV title. It’s shown three times. In 2015, 2017 and must recently 2/19/20 according to autocheck.
any advice? The input has been very helpful so thank you.
lien reported just means the registered owner took out a loan on the car and is making payments. pretty typical. it doesn't necessarily mean three different owners, but just that a bank reported on three different occasions that they are in possession of the title.
don't be shy about taking a short flight or road trip to get the car you want. drive/fly there and drive back in your new car. can be fun
I ended up buying the black ct with no heated seated seats. There were no good options even in a 500 mile radius on autotrader. I ended up being happy with what I got without pushing my budget. The input I got in here was very helpful so thanks to all. This a great forum and I’ll plan to stick around and share my experiences about my 2015 CT.
