I am thinking of doing it. Anyone try it? I did it on my 3rd Gen Prius. Looked cleaner. Not sure how it would look on the CT. I searched... no result. maybe i'll be the first.
Can't for the life of me understand why a rear wiper is necessary on this car. is it a law? i wonder. The F Sport in particular has a large spoiler which covers the whole rear window. and the window is basically vertical so nothing can ever pile on it.
Can't imagine not having mine. My rear glass gets dirty enough to reduce visibility almost immediately and all my spoiler does is not allow the rain to clean it off. Don't have a F sport though.
My car is always micro polished so every surface is usually dealer-factory new fresh. I suspect in a stormy or slushy environment it may be an issue. but my car are always super-cleaned. super slick surfaces. detailing nut.
i bought a delete kit from another car, going to see if i can pull it off. no pun intended.
Yeah I'm from Illinois so stormy and slushy it is. My car has a clean wiper arch surrounded by dirt on the back glass 90% of the time. It does look silly with how small it is, but thank god for it.
Would be interested to see pics, especially of the inside of the hatch with the panels removed.
Here you go, peoples! Rear wiper delete completed. The wiper delete kit I bought was for a Mazda 3, but barely works for our CT. The size is a tad too small. It was a bit difficult to install but I managed. I water tested it extensively and no leaks. I would feel comfortable with a larger unit though. The diamater required is 1 3/8". This is what the Prius guys use. There are kits for the Prius, they are $30. I spent $10 on mine. Perhaps if this ever starts leaking, I'll buy the correct larger kit. But for now this works.
All you need is a 10mm socket and 1/4" drive ratchet to remove the windshield wiper motor. All you do is take your fingers and remove the plastic trim. Remove the top one first, then the lower. And reinstall in reverse. The wiper comes off with removing 3 bolts. You will need to undo the plastic piece that covers the main bolt for the wiper on the outside of the car, The wiper arm will slide up directly by wiggling. Mine had a bit of surface rust that kind of locked it in place but with enough wiggling it broke free. Be careful around this area cause it's near the glass. try not to use hammers or anything of that sort. Just be gentle yet firm and wiggle if you have trouble removing the wiper arm.
I live 1 & 1/2 miles down a dirt road, always dusty unless it rains, then it's muddy. Just installed mud flaps and they help plus look awesome ! Used to have a 2007 Denali XL. I just removed the wiper blade and arm. Yes there was the peg left on rear glass, but was elated to have that Micky Mouse wiper off my ride !
