Default Head gasket failure

Im new here, i am now seeing that this head gasket problem is common with the CT. I just got a quote from Lexus at $4700 dollars to repair at only 157k miles...
This is crazy, why is there not a recall on this? I dont understand, I had NO CLUE this car had issues like this. In fact, I was told this car is typically good up to 400k miles.
Im beside myself with this issue. Even Lexus service says, "We are seeing a lot of this with this model with high mileage." Its not that high, its 157k.... seriously.

2ZR-FXE is unfortunately prone to oil burning and blown head gaskets. EGR system is also trouble prone.

There is at least one TSB on this

Yeah, it's unfortunate. But hey, $4700 isn't a bad price, given that it's the dealer.

If you haven't looked into EGR valve and EGR cooler cleaning/servicing (the dealer doesn't do this, it's mainly a DIY thing), then do-so going forth if you decide to get this fixed. Every 40-60k miles should be a reasonable interval.

what year is yours? that would help folk here. Typically it's 11-13 that has the issues but i suspect 14+ will see them as well.

Just got a quote from a dealership of 7300. for fixing the head gasket at my CT200h. It has less than 60,000miles mostly sits in a garage. I am beyond myself. Can't believe but all started al of a sudden couple of days ago after an almost routine work at local service. Could it be that unqualified staff could tampered with my car deliberately or by accident causing a wild shacking and scraping while driving the car. Before that visit all was very fine, exceptionally good running machine.

60,000 seems absurdly low for this to have happened. I'd get a second opinion from a specialist shop. Are they *actually* sure it's a failed HG; ie, did they perform a cooling system pressure test then check the cylinders for signs of coolant leaking into the combustion chamber? Tell us more about your symptoms. 7300 sounds very steep for this.

I cleaned mines at about 70k and it was dirty but not clogged, so at 60k HG issue seems unusual. To keep it optimal might be a 50-70k interval cleaning. Wondering if using cheap gas vs Top Tier gas might make a difference?

I always use cheap gas for my hybrid since it was recommended. You think it may be a reason for HG problem

I guess 2ZR-FXE refers to a motor. Sorry I am completely illiterate when cars are concerned
