Default basic speeding infraction

aloha friends.
what is the fine for "basic speeding" infraction in Hawaii? my ticket shows $97, but on the net it shows $147. i'm trying to figure out why my ticket clearly shows 97, but not on the net. i called the court, but the lady wasn't very helpful. she said she "thinks" the fine has been changed sometime earlier this year and she cant over-ride the system to reduce the fine to 97. so what is the fine, please? thanks

BTW, our group caught a 350 pound marlin! i have to apologize for picking up a sea turtle. since there were so many, i didn't know they were endangered.

Basic Speeding Infraction is a different type of infraction. Normally, you get fined based on the number of miles over the speed limit. BSI is a basic rule saying that an officer was driving at or slightly above the speed limit. You were driving faster than he/she was. Therefore, you were speeding.

Unfortunately, there is nothing to contest. What makes it worse is the fine...$147 whether you're speeding 1 or 25 mph over. Its a flat fine.

Didn't think they actually enforced this stuff. I guess driving past a slow police car is not a good thing.

Contesting this might be a lose-lose situation....esp if you need to take a few hours away from work...appear before the judge and explaining your side and why you are challenging/contesting the ticket, and eventually paying the fine anyways.
