Hi guys, Last yr I got my gf a remote start for christmas and never got around to getting installed. Winter is right around the corner and I want to get this done. I'm looking for a place that does a good job for a fair price. Anybody have any recommendation? Thanks for the help
my uncle's been running his alarm business for over 15 years..single man job..
his shop is 2 blocks away from Top Speed in Chicago. Used to be partnered with Top Speed, but went separate ways.. its called Five Star Auto Alarm (or Electronics, as the website says). http://www.fivestarelectronics.biz/
call his number at 773 818-1998/William, and get a quote from him.
sorry if i'm hijacking the thread, but i figure car stereo installs go hand in hand with car alarm installs. I'm looking for someone or a shop that can help me install a head unit, sub and amplifier. I already have the sub and amp and i'm in the process of looking for an inexpensive head unit. As much as I'd like to do it myself for the learning experience, I just don't have the time at the moment. The install is not for a Lexus vehicle but for a 1st gen Honda CR-V. Thanks

Ask for Mark and let him know I sent you. They have done my last handful of cars and not once a problem even with the push starts in the new cars.
just gave them a call and seems pretty fair.

its a viper model #5701. its going in an 05 chevy equinox.
They have always done good for me. Mark is a good guy.
OT: Did you have your fenders rolled on your SC? I am looking for someone to do my fronts that someone has used and I can trust. Need minor work done so should be easy for someone that is good with it. I don't want to do it myself and mess up the paint.

i can get an eastwood fender roller and do it for you.
btw there is pretty much no such thing as a guarantee that your paint wont crack. i can sit on it with a torch and heat it and it can still crack. thats why a lot of shops dont do it much and the ones that do charge at least 50/corner and let you know ahead of time that it most likely will happen.
it all depends on the car though. when i didn the rears on my SC the paint cracked so i strayed it with rust inhibitor black on the inside and its all good.
when i did a crazy roll and pull on a friends s13 convertible the paint didnt crack one bit.
how agressive of a roll do you need? a full one or just a partial?
^ just a partial. If you go in the 3gen GS section there is a thread that Rominl did that shows his fronts and rears. I just need a portion, maybe 2", on the back side rolled up. I just barely touch this spot and the way the fender is due to a tab that is located there. Check it out and tell me what you think. I was considering new tires next year also so that I have a slight stretch to allow more room. I dont want to but its an option so I dont damage the car.
