Looks like Ford slashed prices in China on the Mach-E
Ford has cut the price of its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV in China, undercutting offerings from Tesla in the country.
Tesla’s dominant position in the automotive industry has only become more visible in recent months as the automaker has cut prices on its popular models, forcing competitors to do the same. Ford reacted first in the United States, cutting the price of the Mustang Mach-E by $5,900, and has now also done so in China, cutting the electric SUV’s price by 40,000 yuan ($5,700), according to Reuters.
With a new starting price of 209,900 yuan ($30,206), the Ford Mustang Mach-E not only undercuts the ever-popular Tesla Model Y, which starts at 261,900 yuan ($37,613), but also the Tesla Model 3, which starts at 229,900 yuan ($33,017).
In 2022, Ford delivered just over 7,000 Mustang Mach-Es in China, but that number is likely to increase dramatically this year as the Blue Oval ramps production considerably. Ford announced earlier this month that it would aim to achieve an annual run rate of 210,000 Mustang Mach-Es by the end of the year. This is combined with substantial ramps in producing F-150 Lightning, E-Transit, Maverick, and Bronco Sport vehicles.
Ford has not yet been able to emulate the sales success of Tesla or its traditional rival GM with its Wuling Mini EV, but with this price cut and considerable ramp in production, it certainly has the chance to do so.
Perhaps most surprising is that this price cut will not be the base price of the Mustang Mach-E for long, considering Ford is introducing a new LFP battery option to the SUV following the construction of its newest battery production facility in Western Michigan.
Europe is the only remaining market where the Mustang Mach-E is sold, where Ford has yet to institute a price cut. Still, with the increasing competitiveness of the European market, Ford is likely to do so sooner rather than later.
It remains unclear how the market will react to Ford’s new aggressive pricing of its EVs, but it certainly won’t hurt the brand as it looks to grow its EV marketshare globally. Hopefully, these price cuts can help more and more people switch to EVs globally in the coming years.

Well I'm hoping the slashing continues all the way till summer when I'm ready to buy my Model Y! If the all the rumors are correct, Tesla will be lowering prices even more as their new factories, expansions, Giga Presses and manufacturing techniques lower the overall cost and increase profitability. I just don't see how any automaker can even catch up, ICE or EV as Tesla keeps spinning them out. In the old days (pre-pandemic) dealers kept large inventories, but they can no longer afford to that anymore
Have to be a little careful with Ford dealer websites as many dealer websites automatically populate with data from Ford when the vehicles ship from the factory, regardless of whether the vehicles are actually available. The dealer I got mine from shows 9 Mach-E available, but all of them have green and not blue window stickers. Green denotes customer order, blue denotes dealer/stock order. More likely than not this is the site showing customer ordered cars as inventory when they're not actually available (both my Lightning and Bronco showed up as available on the dealer site when they were shipped and until I picked them up, and the site has pics). It's possible that these nine are customer orders that have canceled, of course, but they are most likely to be customer-ordered cars awaiting pickup.
My next door neighbor bought a new F150 a couple weeks ago and he took it in to get something fixed and they gave him a brand new Mach-E GT (or whatever the high end model is) to drive for a couple weeks. I didn’t drive it but I sat in it and the interior was pretty nice although the back seat was small. It was that orange color with black wheels and it looked pretty cool. Only problem is he said it’s pretty fast to 70mph and then the power drops off pretty good after that so that sucks plus the sticker that’s on it is $74K.

That sucks. My Polestar goes 0 to 100 with no power drop, especially with the power upgrade. Haven't taken it over 100, but my limit is usually 80 anyway. One of my friends has the non GT Mach-E, he really loved it until he bought a Model Y. He lives up in the hills, and he said the Mach-E doesn't handle nearly as well as their Y
There's something weirdly majestic about how the Model X just embraces being a beluga whale like a 747 whereas other brands try to make their SUV's look more truckish or sporty. Too bad it couldn't be convincingly shrunk down for the Model Y.
Dealers here are still doing ADM on their Mach-E's. With an increase in production and seeing some of these Mustangs still sitting on their lots, prices should finally start to stabilize.

That's a known design choice on the Mach-E. It maximizes 0-60 performance and then really drops off. Similar 0-60 to a Model Y performance, but a noticeably slower quarter mile.

We rented a Mach E GT for a week and had a similar experience. 0-60 was SO fast but past 70 omg it was terribly slow. Even our Model Y Long Range is significantly faster at those speeds. The Mach E would take ages to hit 100, you almost can't. The Model Y does it accidentally with the slightest squeeze of the throttle. It is so much better in this area. Like SOOOOO much better.
That was an eye opening test drive experience for us, it's definitely a dealbreaker. I was so glad to have experienced that then because at the time we were highly considering one. If we had gotten one and found out about how slow it was past 70 or that you only get 5 seconds of max power before it pulls acceleration, I'd have been PISSED and full of remorse. It was that bad.
Lastly, once the battery gets to like 23% or so, the Mach E enters "turtle mode" and becomes so extremely slow as well. The Model Y even in single digit battery % has an impressive amount of power.
