Using it to develop a supercharger system, my spare engine is like MINT mint with 3400 miles on it and the one that came in the car is in the car.
This one will allow me to test fit everything and figure out PCV routing and belt routing as well as intake fixturing and how to get the divided banks to share one intake tract. All of this is far easier to do on an engine outside of a car and I can 3D scan it this way into CAD software so prototype parts programs can be handed to my machine shop.

So through a combo of insomnia and basically all my friends being over in peak midwestern style I'm still awake......decided to post some updates on the new engine now vs tomorrow.
Found a listing for my spare lol! Guess they didn't get the memo it's sold..... Not bad for 130k Still amazes me how easy these are to work on No leaks HPFP follower looks near perfect, unlike garbage 2.0 EA888s. High pressure side actually still had a LOT of psi when I removed the fittings, sprayed hard. I'm happy about that since that means all my injectors are not leaking A little dirty Chains and guides are perfect, crazy tight as well Bank 1 tensioner gear also has no deflection at all HPFP cam lobe is perfect. Note the cam caps have hand stamped numbering on the center pads, sizes are the cast in digit and the engine builders pick the right cap sizes and then hand stamp the order number VVT control solenoids don't have those idiotic little screens that degrade and lock up the actuators like on the 2.0 engines and (unfortunately) my W8 All the valves Factory set, last time this engine was run it was in a crashed car cold started and 15 seconds after start being bounced off the soft limiter.....so they all look rich AF. Vs what they are supposed to look like Wife took some real pictures on her actual camera Gonna frame this one somewhere.....

Processing the extra parts from the new spare, stripping the intakes down and cleaning everything. This blew my mind, the PCV side of the engine is the cleanest intake I have ever seen. I thought the one in my car may have been a fluke but I've seen 3 of these now and all of them are this clean..... This also completely kills the argument that PCV oil vapors etc are what cause intake valve buildup on DI engines. I have to give this PCV block a lot of credit, the separator works beyond expectations. I underestimated the weight.....had to reinforce the bench. I have this shelf setup to allow me to move the engine around/rotate it as needed. Spare small parts I'm keeping on the "W12 shelf" of spares Mint!
Nice ones lol! Thankfully she doesn't mind, I do the majority of the cleaning anyway and the metal sink/granite is easier to clean than the plastic utility sink in the laundry room. I hate that sink, it stains so easily....
It's also very nice since I can set stuff out on the right side and feeds them though lol!
Got everything cleaned, bagged and put away last week. I have a mountain of spares now! Spares are hung up downstairs, next time my exotic car friend come down from Michigan we are going to take some night rolling shots of the D4 and some interior shots to frame one of each in the voids of the cover. W8 cover was thrown on the wall as well but I'm not sure how to integrate pictures for that car
Went on the yearly Arkansas trip, car did perfectly as usual. Found out my trip computer actually UNDER estimates MPG vs hand calc by .5 mpg.
Literally no oil consumption over a 4900 mile OCI, car didn't act up whatsoever somehow. Still surprises me how consistent it is....
Motel owners insisted I park outside the front door the whole week so that was great, I avoided all the rain that way!
Also just discovered today when washing it that it has a washer fluid nozzle to clean the thermal camera. I make sure to use the windshield/headlight washers every now and then to prevent the lines from drying out but this time I decided to video it.
Thermal cleaning jet sprays a stupid amount, I'm assuming the strategy is to flood the housing when moving to clean it

3rd oil change, hard to believe I've put this many miles on already. Everything is still perfect and leak free thankfully!
I do hate how SLOW you have to add oil though, it's a 20 min process, plus side is you can't really overfill it and windage is a total non-issue. Each pair of cylinders have their own "chamber" and there is no way for oil to move around inside at all.
