I love this car though lol! I've converted 7 people to Audi with it now, did another exhibition run last night and man that 130 limiter needs to go.....it's way too low

Audi's were never in my radar because I don't see many of them.
My interest in Audi's is from learning about them from ya'll CL members.
Never know they had such cool cars!
PS- baddges for sure! Show off that V-12 cuz not many around, oh yeah. Lol

This is even more rare because it isn't a V12. It's a W12. Essentially two of VW's VR6s (15 degree V6) sharing a single crank. So you get a 12-cylinder engine that's about the same length as an inline 4 (though obviously much wider).
The W12 has only ever been in the Audi A8, the Volkswagen Touareg (which was not sold in the US) and Phaeton, several Bentleys and two Spykers.

with a VAG group W12 you can also claim more relation to the veyron engine than just about anyone else lol (which is "basically" two VR8s)

peak "audiness" for me is their turbo inline-5 engine, it powered the famous and highly successful quattro rally car in the 80s and the current RS3 still uses an inline-5 with a turbo
the amount of power it can reliably make is insane and it sounds like a lamborghini V10!

way more appealing to me than yet just another 4 cylinder
Oh yeah 100%, I'm tempted to import one with a diesel D2 A8 in a year or so and do a 900ish HP build on it. They sound just like a 10 aka amazing!
Me and a friend have several cars we want to import and depending on sizes of cars and how many parts we want with them may be able to buy 2 containers and get 3 stateside

but crucially it sounds like a gallardo V10, which sounds like a beautifully crafted precision instrument... the V10 in the viper for instance sounds like, well, a big crappy old truck engine lol (and one that i'd jump at the opportunity to own and drive!)

As a Mopar guy I must defend the queen of all V10s......the sound the Viper makes is incredible. Unless you hear one in person very very very few videos do it justice, it combines the wail of the other V10s at high RPM with the insanely erratic idle of a massive V8 with a cam but the sheer PRESSURE wave that is generated upon startup and is ever present around the car is unlike any other V10. It has a literal physical presence due to the shockwave when you are around one

oh i don't wanna give off the wrong impression here, i love how the viper sounds! but being that the original viper engine more or less is a big crappy old truck engine it's not exactly a 'high strung' sound lol
but i've driven alongside vipers in traffic and yea there is just a constant pressure (side exhausts surely help amplify this) emanating from the car at all times... sounds like there's something BIG right near you

It'a really not the truck V10, it shares literally nothing and the block/heads were cast/designed by Lambo since Chrysler owned them. That stupid myth just doesn't seem to die lol!

it's kind of a fun one to perpetuate though :D
despite the clarkson mockery of how little power the viper makes for the size, the GTS-R is a legend and a big reason that car was so successful was that engine being so rock solid and progressive in its power delivery
Replacement active mounts got here early, they said 6-8 weeks from Germany but it only took two, it's annoying how many things on this car are Germany direct. I'm probably going to order a full set of import only parts to keep on hand
