I must be being subjected to the Berenstein/Berenstain Bears effect because it turns out that the Polestar 4 DOES have a small transmission tunnel hump, not a flat floor - at least in Autogefuel's review. The one in Alex's review meanwhile has a flat floor. Both are the same dual motor setup with the same battery size. Unless the models are being packaged differently depending on certain trims or countries sold, I have no idea what the definitive setup is.

EDIT: I think Alex might have filmed two different versions of the P4 because the other one he is in, though I wasn't totally sure before, clearly has a transmission tunnel. I suspect the transmission tunnel is for the dual motor version while the flat floor is the single motor, but don't quote me on that.

After a few weeks of sitting, decided to take the Polestar to work and get it washed

The return process for the Polestar has now been initiated. AutoVIN will be doing an inspection on Nov 4th, and they submit a report to Polestar. I'll have an option to remediate any issues they find before the official return, which will probably be in November. I'm curious what they will value the car at, I would be willing to buy it out if it's reasonable...which for me is no more than $22k

I predict they'll ask for $34,200.

Did you get a call from Polestar Financial? I will definitely return mine. No chance I'm keeping it

So, that means you should go ahead and order your M3P. Right?

Not until about July of next year. When our Ioniq 5 lease is up next August, my wife gets the Y, and I get to buy the M3P . Right now the Polestar is hardly being driven with my son away to University for the next two years, and this gives me a chance to downside the number of cars I have. When my son gets back from college, he will either buy his own car or get the Sienna

Yikes...looks like Polestar 4 owners are not too happy. From the Polestar forum:

Shocking Polestar4 Ownership Experience: First 16 Days

"After 16 days of owning my Polestar 4, I wanted to share my observations, including some serious safety concerns and numerous technical issues. Here's a breakdown of what I've encountered:

Safety Concerns:

Driver Seat Retraction Issue: When the driver's seat automatically retracts upon opening the door, my daughter was squeezed, resulting in a break in her skin. Reported to support but no feedback yet.

Retractable Door Handles: Fingers were trapped when the door handles randomly retracted

Adaptive Cruise Control: The ACC is laggy to activate/deactivate and can be dangerous, bouncing between lanes and braking abruptly without reason.

General Issues:

Adaptive Cruise Control: lane changing only occasionally works.

Performance Above 50-60mph: Despite 550hp, performance beyond 60mph feels underwhelming.

Matrix Headlights: These often dazzle oncoming drivers or fail to light up the necessary parts of the road.

Indicators: The indicators often fail to deactivate and are too quiet, leading to prolonged activation without noticing.

Range Issues: Despite the claimed 360-mile range, I’m only achieving around 240 miles.

Heads-Up Display (HUD): Occasionally stops working and can't be reactivated until the car is reset.

Infotainment System Responsiveness: The touchscreen is slow, taking multiple attempts to register inputs, making it difficult to use while driving.

Wireless Charging: Phone won’t charge wirelessly, constantly showing a "key detected" message, and it slides off during acceleration.

Wind Noise: At 70mph+, noticeable wind noise around the A-pillars, as if a window is open.

Steering Wheel Button Malfunction: Steering wheel buttons sometimes stop working and only function again after the car is left off for a while.

Parking Sensors: Do not automatically display the camer

Parking Sensors: Do not automatically display the cameras. This setting resets every time.

Road Sign Detection: Works only about 10% of the time, making it unreliable.

No Front Collision Detection?: There seems to be no front collision detection, which is concerning on a car covered in sensors and cameras.

Auto Climate Control: Doesn’t effectively clear windscreen misting.

Call Quality: Poor, with people complaining they can’t hear me during calls.

No Internet Access for Two Weeks: Finally started working today.

YouTube Pausing: YouTube consistently pauses, particularly when my phone is paired.

Spotify Pausing: Stops whenever my phone receives a notification.

No WhatsApp Integration: The infotainment system lacks WhatsApp access, which works perfectly with Android Auto.

Harman Kardon System: No subwoofer adjustment available in the equaliser.

Key Fob Issues: No buttons to unlock the car or pop the boot remotely. The lack of a keyring hole is also annoying.

Rear Camera Quality: Poor in general and worsens in cold weather.

No Subwoofer Adjustment: The Harman Kardon equaliser lacks subwoofer controls.

Conclusion:

Before this, I owned an Audi A5 3L Quattro for six years and experienced none of the problems I’ve faced within just the first week of Polestar ownership. Frankly, if Polestar doesn’t take immediate steps to address these widespread issues, I foresee serious trouble for the brand’s future.

Polestar should make a formal announcement apologising for the state of this release and provide a clear roadmap for fixing these problems, along with a rough timeline. The generic responses I’ve seen in other forums are simply unacceptable.

Note that I also raised various issues with support, none of which appear to be acknowledged anywhere and I have been provided with zero updates.

This car feels like pre-release/beta and I did not expect to be paying considerable money for a premium car to experience this from both the car, and service from Polestar"

Not a very encouraging review for a car that's nearly $70k. What's most shocking is the mods response

Bjorn Nyland did a road test on the P4 and the software was a total buggy disaster. Many functions didn't work or ceased working.

It's incredible that the car has been sold for over a year now in China yet they still haven't been able to make it functional. Does Geely want Polestar to fail to prop up its other brands?

It sounds that way. I can't believe they didn't learn anything from the Polestar 2, which is a pretty decent car despite some of it's buggy software. I would say the brand is destroyed, no way Polestar owners are going to give this a pass

I think the brand should have stayed a subdivision of Volvo. Between all the weird mismanagement and bugs and delayed launches and replaced CEO's, Polestar is now becoming more and more like Fisker or Lordstown which is an absurd position to be in for a company run by a large corporation like Geely.

It's not like Volvo had a great SW experience either. Unless they've recently fixed it, the EX90 is launching without a bunch of features as well

That's an insane list of issues, car is dangerous to drive really. Very disappointing I had high hopes for Polestar and in general love the styling.
