Got it. That's what I thought - if I remember correctly we got our cars just a few days apart. I'll return mine mid-Dec just before registration.

They look really nice, well built, but they are priced much higher than I want. Leasing would be the only option making them a value, but I really don't want to get into another lease, so next year it's either the Model 3 Performance, or possibly the redesigned Y Performance. I want to just buy and be over with it for the next 5 to 10 years

So my final thoughts. I am glad to have been able to lease this car and experience it. It already had pretty good performance, but with the Performance upgrade, it was blazing. It was smooth and quiet, and other than a failed BDU in Sept 2022, I had no other issues with it. The only maint I performed was tire pressure and windshield washer fluid. It was also efficient, I was averaging 3.13 miles per kWh, and best of all, a sleeper. Many unsuspecting cars fell victim to getting their asses handed to them in friendly light to light and freeway on ramp competitions. I will definitely miss it

Yeah, I imagine most of the pre-tariff P2 owners like you are probably not going to return with how much of a price hike the 3 and 4 are compared to the 2. Polestar's future as a brand is so dubious at this point that I can't see any valid option other than to lease.

Even the P2 is currently over priced, and the only way to buy or lease one is fully optioned:

That's $10k more than a Model 3 Performance with the most expensive paint option, and if you get the Stealth Grey, you get the additional $7500 tax credits, plus $500 loyalty.

You are 100 percent correct, there is an "End of lease" thread in the Polestar forum, and I would say most members who bought around my time frame are moving on to other brands

That's why I said "pre-tariff" - the P2's price hike is because of the 100% tariff on Chinese-made EV's and so the only way they could make money off of it is through selling a fully loaded model and then some. It's been de facto cancelled in the US.

With the big administration change in January being even more strict than the current one on Chinese-made or owned products, I really don't know how Polestar will make it through especially with all their delayed product launches trying to match the requirements of the outgoing administration.

I would outright say it's doomed. It was the perfect competitor to the Model 3... when it was priced over $50k out the door. But I think Polestars problems began long before tariffs

You left the brand at the perfect time.

Kind of a bummer because sales were increasing, in 2023 they hit almost 55k units

polestar will need to make the cars in the u.s. or partner with someone else to do it (ford?) to survive.

i just watched gjeebs video on his road trip in the m3p and at his highway speed, he was getting basically 200mi. between charges, not great. since i'm not all about performance, i'd take more range over more performance.
