nice. the mapping of 'inputs' like pressing pedals to responses is a tricky thing. they probably had had their reasons for the way it was and now have reasons for the change.
sounds like a good change.
It is tricky, especially with the HP and Torque that gets put down to the wheels. Seems like they got it right, completely smooth from a stop
It looks like the latest Polestar software update fixed a lot of issues, but not the main one it was supposed to...360 Camera view. I don't have the 360 Camera, so people like me are not having any issues, but those that do are complaining on the Polestar forum and getting this error:
It seems it has a bug rendering the 360 view
On another note, I'm going to try again and make another offer to Polestar leasing to try and buy the Polestar out if I can get them to accept $22k, which is the current value according to KBB
Well, tried to make a buyout offer for my Polestar lease, but they are sticking to their valuation. Offered $22k (current KBB value), plus remaining lease and penalties for being over 5k miles. Those stubborn Swedes
Daughter took the Model Y to go on a trip to San Diego, so I've been driving the Polestar since Friday. I have three months left on the lease, I've decided to just pay it off. I was thinking about returning it early and saving on the insurance, but I'll hold on to it until December.
I'm really going to miss this car. It's really a blast, especially with the Performance upgrade, which was worth every single penny. It's smooth at any speed, and the instant torque/power never gets tiring. The only thing annoying is it seems to attract Camry, Accord, Civic and Nissan and the occasional Mazda drivers that want to race. The other day did a light to light with an IS350 with a loud exhaust, he didn't fare too well. Sometimes I just ignore them, and sometimes I just embarrass them. Depends on my mood
It looks like Polestar is phasing out the P2 after 2025 in favor of the Polestar 4, several people on the Polestar forum told me they are being told none are available in inventory

Cancelling the P2 to replace it with the P4 doesn't make sense because the P4 is much larger and much more expensive. And it's not going to come out in the US for at least another year as they sort out the Chinese tariff fiasco so it would very dumb to halt P2 production now.

I agree...and so does all the angry P2 owners who's leases are near the end but can't get into another one because of no available inventory
the P2 is a (well done but) transitional vehicle in that i believe it's not built on a dedicated ev platform.
polestar obviously has other plans, but yeah, leaving p2 owners with no place to land in the brand is weak.
Looking at a news release in June, they are saying they are not cancelling it, but updating it to "align with the P3 and P4", which in my mind means a redesign. News release says 2025. So looks like they stopped producing the current version, which is why there are none in inventory, which of course doesn't help those coming off lease get into another one. I would tell them to get a Tesla, but than I would be hated 🤣
Turns out, I'm not the only one running into people who think they drive fast cars
IDK if you're on Instagram or TikTok, but holy hell those apps are flooded with Gen Z who drive economy sedans flexing them like they're exotic performance cars.

Haha thankfully I'm not. My only "social media" is CL and occasionally the Polestar forum.
Checked out the sole Polestar dealership in the midwest and they had a P4 on display. There was a P3 being charged in the back but I didn't bother to take photos. Not a single P2 on the lot except a customer car taken in for maintenance.
The P4 looks really great in person - the one on display is the US spec with orange side reflectors. What really surprised me was the seating position, even though it's dimensionally a sedan, you sit up much higher even compared to other EV sedans like the EQE or Ioniq 6. I guess this is why Polestar is advertising it as a "crossover coupe". Also unusual is that it was much more spacious in the backseat than the P3 despite being a smaller vehicle. Hard to judge whether the camera would be a good substitute for an actual mirror but at least in the well-lit showroom it was very hi-res.
Oddly enough the guys at the dealership were telling me that they expected the P4 to be their volume model, and not the P3.

I really like the P4, but I don't like it's price. The spec I would want is $20k more than the Model 3P. I definitely would like to do a test drive, I'll probably book one if I get some free time.
As far as the seating position, you also sit up much higher in the P2. I'm not very tall, and I have to drop the seat all the way down or I hit my head going in and out. Whenever my wife or daughter drive it, they raise the seat and I end up hitting my head on the roof. If I was tall, this would not be a good car to own
