Exactly my point! Why does it have to be so hard? Why are all the buttons such a mess?
Then throw in @bitkahuna Santa Fe, or name any car you want. A software solution is the future and there is a reason for it.

I don't find them a mess or hard. Every button for a command has a specific location and you have to learn where they are....whether they are on a screen or are a physical button. It comes from you not driving the car all the time. Every control in that RX falls right to my hand because I drove Lexus vehicles with that layout from 2013-2020. I'm sure bit knows automatically where every button is in that Santa Fe.
I have had Chrysler vehicles with uConnect that hasn't changed layoutwise since 2014, and I still hunt for controls and buttons when I drive the Pacifica because I just don't drive it very much. That doesnt mean the layout in the Pacifica is poor, or that it has too many buttons, I would hunt for them on a screen in a car I wasn't used to driving too.
NOTHING is automatic, it takes time to learn the controls of any vehicle, buttons or screens. I sat in a Tesla Model S the other day and I had absolutely no idea how to do anything.
Some of the controls on the screen are a convoluted mess. Wipers on the screen
You should have seen me trying to open the frunk! The woman had to help me. I have NEVER had to have a salesperson help me operate anything on any car lol

Yeah no. Just picked up a loaner that I have NEVER driven before and it took under 30 seconds for me to memorize and blind use the physical controls.

It depends on the car. You can easily figure out the main controls to operate the car but it takes time to learn to do more complex things. Getting into my Mercedes after years of Lexus was a big adjustement

BUT, I would learn if I had one.
Of course you will learn how. But to says it’s “better” or “not better” is up to the individual user. But when it is Tesla, they are always ahead or better right? A button like that, sure, makes sense to embed it into the main screen
But steering weird tilt/tele NO. I think Tesla puts there’s into the right button on the steering wheel.
Tesla does things differently for the sake of doing them differently instead of the change being better. Thats one big frustration I have with them.
Tesla does the steering wheel system to be cheap. period. Doesn’t mean it is wrong. In contrast, Lexus put the passenger side LS500 seat for/aft controls into the door buttons on the drivers side for the same reason. Genesis doesn’t.
Everyone does stuff to be cheaper. My older 4Runner has two separate controls to move tilt/tele…one is real metal and a plastic tip that says “tilt” but they is another control under the steering column. My ew 4R uses the under the steering control to do both functions.

I hope you know interactive screens on software based vehicles is the futute. Tons of buttons and ***** will go the way of ignition points and carburators. Static ain't good; it is static. Software is unlimited.
The future is not yet made. Statements about the future are just guesses and most times proven to be wrong rather than right.

Maybe. A few short years ago Teslas were only for rich CA granola heads, and would be belly up any day now...
When that didn't happen, it was, "Wait for the big boys to get in." Still waiting...
Now Tesla is by far the most valuable car company in the world and everyone is chasing them.
The numbers don't lie. What emerges will be interesting...
Full disclosure, I did not know that! Thank you. The RX is more wifey's, I drive the GS.
Maybe I should try, "Play Paul Butterfield"? Or "My butt is cold"? Ha! All good. I love all the cars. And, as always, each to their own.
Have you tried “my butt is too hot?” on your highly advanced tesla? What about the passenger’s butt is hot and yours is fine? Can the passenger use the vc without affecting your butt?!
No what? Do you believe turn signal buttons on the steering wheel are better than a stalk? Or sliding a slider on a screen is better than using a gear lever? Or that a yoke is a better steering device than a wheel?
