Pulling a camper?
Not sure if great idea or if will comfortably pull a camper this size safely up and down thru mountains but maybe ok on flat highways.
However, I could be underestimating it's ability.
Hauling anything bigger than this and if money was no option I'd go with a new Cadillac Escallade or a 3/4 Ton extra cab, with long bed of course. lol
I have been detailing cars for 30 years, I just dont see how this would be possible. The only place where the edge is exposed is the top of the glass, you would have to spray the cleaner on the roof of the car and have it run down onto the glass, and the glass would have to be lowered in order for the cleaner to get onto the edge. I just don’t see how this is possible.
I would have to see pictures of this to believe it.
Of course it happens, all the time, and not just with cars. I am in the construction industry and I see delaminating laminated glass all the time - from improper use of cleaners, sealers and grouts. Mind you, on interior the glass is not even exposed to elements and UV as much as glass on a car.
It has the AMG appearance package, I can tell from looking at it. If it didnt it would have black plastic wheel arches instead of the body colored flaired ones.

IMO, the AMG package is a must have on almost every Mercedes. They look frumpy without it.
Yes, it was that one, those rims. However the window trim was chrome as you can see. And I pretty much agree with your second sentence, ALMOST every one.
I think you are dramatically overstating how common an issue this is. It happening to a few cars and saying it "happens often" is very different. If this "happened often" CL would be filled with posts about this issue, and its just not...
Laminated glass is not very common on cars to begin with, and many owners who have delamination probably just write it off to old age, and not complain on the forums, but believe me it is common.
Lately in commercial glazing they have started using SPG interlayer vs the traditional PVB interlayer, which is a lot stronger and much more resistant to chemicals. We have a piece of laminated glass break on a project, and we had to use jack hammers to break the SPG interlayer to put it in the dumpster. If automotive glass is using SPG interlayers now, then its not even a concern.
Another benefit of laminated glass is its ability to block UV rays. Combined with low-e coating it is really effective at keeping your cabin from overheating in the sun and keeps materials from fading. It is great, but it does need a little extra care.

Me, I know it has shortcomings compared to competition but just knowing there's probably not another vehicle on the road that went through more hell testing is part of the appeal. The tank like feeling is also part of it. My mother finally drove my truck and wasn't even out of the parking lot yet "Well if this isn't a friggin tank..." She wants one now.
One thing, while I totally agree the Mercedes would be the pick here, LX600 looks better. They actually look great in person, I think at least. Not biased, I saw one on the road I about broke my neck turning around. This Mercedes was elegant but not really a head turner.

That SPG stuff is insane, almost negates the need for a security film entirely. I'm going to try and have my next set of house doors use it for the glass sections. Reminds me of armored car glass in some ways, very tough to break and I'm sure it will be useful for uparmoring as well

I repaired several Footlockers in Manhattan after the 2020 summer riots, there was one that was glazed with SPG laminated glass that these degenerates couldn't break through. They shattered both layers of glass, but the interlayer kept it together, they could not get in.
I built a gazebo for my backyard, it's a stainless steel frame with glass roof, consisting of 1/4" thick low-e coated tempered glass upper layer, .060 SPG, and 3/8 tempered glass bottom layer. Super strong, and it blocks out the sun nicely, it is cooler under the glass vs being directly in the sun.
According to this video, SGP is not used in automotive, it is too stiff for head impact, so they still use PVB, thus delaminating most certainly still a concern.

This really is amazing. Not all laminated glass has this feature, my S560 has the IR rejecting glass while my LS460s had laminated glass but its not IR rejecting. The S Class stays cooler inside than any other vehicle I have ever been in. The Pacifica by comparison never feels like it even cools off.

It does, but the AMG package makes it look a little less blob-ish. They are great vehicles though if you want to shlep a bunch of people around in classy luxury. I prefer the X7, but its not nearly as spacious.
