no, because you shouldn’t be reading while driving. it will ‘speak’ them though.

And you have the option to reply via voice control as well.

Such a moot point because you read signs, menus, gps, etc anyway. I still use BMW's native idrive interface over carplay because it displays texts.

car interface and maps are very limited amounts of text, mostly icons and maps and labels, vs. reading some 'book' someone texted, lol.

Signs and the like are designed to be viewed and understood instantly. Potentially lengthy text messages are not, and that creates an increased distraction risk were you to read them while driving. I think the CarPlay UI choice limiting them to audio-only playback and response is the right one.

WDYM "yet"? what makes you think Apple would do this? the technology exists - my '14 BMW did this in iDrive.

Most of my texts are short and to the point, lol, and I am a fast reader. Not an issue.

I do not answer texts when driving.

That is precisely why I use native iDrive interface instead of Carplay, it had the capability since 2008 or so.

It would be nice if it would at least display the texts when stopped.

and yet, it gives you the capability to report traffic accidents while driving on maps, which is a 3 touch process. I always find it difficult to do it.

Not possible on a phone call, and if not on a call, interrupts music and also odd to do with people in the car. Maybe im old school, I find using my fingers quicker, than using Siri. It's like saying, Hey Mercedes, turn on heated seat. I might as well click the button myself.

Anyone with HUD experiences freeze? It's been awhile now. It seems less but I still get random freeze on HUD when I make a different turn. It's fine on the main display though. Just on the HUD.
