ev chargers at gas stations
There's a Tesla Supercharger station at my local Fred Meyer grocery store. It's always busy. The other day I was in line paying for groceries and there was a family in line ahead of me. The man checked his phone and said "oh, the car is already at 80%, you finish up here and I'll go get it" and then he ran out to pull it off the charger and open up the space. I think it's the perfect setup to be able to grocery shop while your car charges.

It must get decent convenience store traffic. I once stopped at a Supercharger in a Walmart parking lot, I went into the Walmart, used the bathroom than grabbed a diet coke for me and bottled water for my wife and another passenger
There are some charging stations at the mall near me and what you described is another reason I would not use public charging stations unless I really had to. At the mall near me I have to be aware of where I am in the mall when my charging is almost complete or I could be taking a long walk back just to move my car. I just don’t want to be inconvenienced by that when I am shopping.
. You would have to jack rates up above 400 percent to make it the same price as gas. I see people paying $100 for a fillup and still going into the convenience store and buying stuff, even with gas hitting $7 plus a gallon
Yep, you sound like daughter and nieces. They practically keep Starbucks in business. My daughter pays $5 for an Ice macchiato...which is like 90 percent ICE LOL. Now their thing is the Boba shops. Boba is in, Starbucks is yesterday....
While we are talking about gas station and EV stations, I remember reading about this gas station a couple years ago that converted all of their gas pumps to charging stations. I just don't see how the owner can stay in business without earning much revenue from charging. In the suburbs like where I live, no way I would ever use a charging station when I can charge at home so I just don't see the traffic volume being there to get people to shop in the mini-mart to make up the lost revenue. In the city where people can't charge at home, yeah maybe that would work but in the burbs, I don't think so.

Exactly. Its a "Nuclear Free Zone" and the City drafted multiple resolutions to impeach GW Bush lol. Not a normal place! We call it the "People's Republic of Takoma Park"
I don’t get it, so how does the owner pay the bills? When it opened the article says they only get around 5 cars a day using their chargers. How can it be sustainable unless they own the land and building outright.
There are tons of grants out there for this sort of thing, the town also subsidizes his business because of its green/political nature.
Makes more sense. I was thinking the $768k grant was a one time thing that covers the conversion from pumps to charging stations. I wonder if the owner gets to pocket the difference? So I guess taxpayers pay for it whether they want to or not. I guess that’s the price of going green.
