Test Drove an LC500 Today
I can drive around my neighborhood for 5 min and see a bunch lol.
911s have also been sold for decades and most can’t tell a new one apart from one that came out 10yrs ago.
Yes and they last forever. My buddy's 911 is built better than almost any car i've seen and more reliable too. Maintenance is expensive though.
Its offset by the fact 911 retains its value probably better than any other car if taken care of.
LC500 will be way cheaper to maintain for sure.
My friend bought a 1988 930 Turbo (I believe the slant nose) in 1997 for $40K. He kept it until 2010 and sold it for $50K, although if he had waited a couple of years he could of easily gotten $70K. It was a fun car, really fast, but not a great daily. It ran hot in summer stop and go traffic, was not very comfortable. I drove it a few times, and it became tiring to drive after awhile. But let me tell you, it was fast. You were already at 60 before going into 2nd gear, and 80 by the time you were in third. I don't think I ever got into 4th
more reliable than their peers, but not compared to. Lexus. I know for a fact Cayenne was an immense headache as I tinkered with one and interior wasn't great either nor it was put together better than lets say an Rx. speaking of rx I have a 2013 with over 200k miles - no issues no rattles no drying of leather, no burning of oil or engine failures. 911 might be a rare one

European cars are often engineered to last 10 years, because perhaps Europeans often believe that a motor vehicle should be replaced every 10 years - and some European nations have proposed tariffs on aged vehicles.
My friend said that he spent about $3k/year servicing and repairing his old Audi Q7.
Last year, he spent $3.5k replacing his injection nozzles.
Then Audi wanted $8k to repair an engine oil leak.
So he replaced his aging Audi Q7 with a brand new Mercedes GLE.
I don't know how long these Porsches last, but if I had to make an educated guess, it will last longer than my old 90 degree V6 Benz, but over the long term, aka 20 years, it won't be anywhere near as trouble free as a Toyota or Lexus with a naturally aspirated V6. My ES300 is over 23 years old and running like a dream.
It's also a bit of an unfair comparison, because Porsches are often driven hard, where Lexiis are not driven anywhere near as hard.

agreed, but its probably not as reliable as an LC500. Its pretty good but since the OP started on LC and we saying 911 is just as good. Its probably better in sportiness and other things but not rock solid(dependable) as the LC500 could be or would be. Nothing against a 911.. I would love me a GT2 one day.

I had an ISF for 4-5years, sold it because the back seat was useless and I drove It hard no issues. alot of locals with their ISFs and RCFs around me drive hard and nothing breaks. Looks at Rafi and RR racing. You dont hear of engine fails and other crazy things. Lexus usually makes boring slow cars but couple of their offerings like the LC500 is a fun solid buy.

It may not be as reliable as an LC500, but its way more complex and offers much better performance. There are tradeoffs.
Its like my S Class. If I had to put it into the dealer once or twice a year for an issue, would that drive me back to Lexus? No because the Mercedes is a much better car.
The LC is an awesome product, and its the only Lexus right now I would consider. The only car where I feel like there really is something special being offered that you're not getting in a competitors car.
