I was referring to the single tone vs 2 tone vs 3 tone for the LC. Not so much the dominating color. Personally I like 2 or 3 tones for the contrast.

the LC has quite a lot of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and full cf parts on some trim levels. it also has a huge amount of sophistication in drivetrain and suspension components. i think to turn that into supra level pricing would be very difficult.Originally Posted by mmarshall

LC is too big to be a sports car like the Supra. The RC is probably the closest thing Toyota has to a Supra that doesn't rely on outside companies to make it for them like Subaru or BMW.Originally Posted by mmarshall

The problem with turning the RC into a cheaper version is that I don't think Toyota could. Building any car like the Supra nowadays would necessitate Lexus-level investments, and that means a Lexus pricetag. Nissan was only able to pull off the Z because it's using a 20 year old platform. It's no longer the bubble era where Japan could throw limitless cash on cars that nobody bought.

Really the only thing you could do with an RC is a TT V8, which is not that simple and very costly to reengineer, which is why they never pursued it (TTV8). You also have to re-engineered the transmission, retune suspension and at the end of the day you have a plus $100K car very few would actually buy. excitement would be there, but excitement doesn't always turn into purchases, I mean I was excited about the LFA, but I never had even an inkling to go out and buy one. A lot of people don't like the fact that Toyota paired up with BMW for the Supra, but IMO it was a smart thing because it was the only way to keep it in a certain price range. It is a BMW at the end of the day, but Toyota did put a lot of engineering resources into it, so it has some Toyota dnaOriginally Posted by Motorola

I was talking about the RC, not Supra, it wouldn't be anything relatively like a Supra with a TT V8. I only mentioned Supra in passingOriginally Posted by Motorola

You keep a car like I do….immaculate. Glad you passed on the 500, it sounded terrible, wonder what reputable dealer would allow trash on the showroom.

What Lexus did with the LC was quite unique They made it mostly monotone too inside. Older Toyota and Lexus models used to do this, but cost cutting now has taken this style of interior trends away.. certainly not the trend in the modern era. But LC went this route which is nice to see. Originally Posted by SW17LS

If Lexus truly wants to be high end for something and charge a premium. I think they need to offer it in some segments. LC is quite a bit different in the demographic than other Lexus models. Originally Posted by SW17LS

Here is the S class coupe for reference. I am not sure if Mercedes does with the sedan S class.

Yeah they do, Mercedes offers those style interiors in a lot of their models.

Even the new lower end stuff? My 04 4R does it, not my new one. Toyota and other brands used to do this all over their line ups. Definitely super rare these days. Originally Posted by SW17LS
