We'll agree to disagree. Of course most Americans cannot afford a $1,000 car payment. That simply has no bearing on our discussion.

i don't virtue signal based on what i own, or make fun of those who don't/can't.
Neither do I, when have I ever done that? I am however not ashamed of what I have because I have worked extremely hard to get where I am, as we all have.

that is highly judgmental and frankly you have no idea. based on my experience here, i'd say there's a very wide range of demographics/wealth.
There is a wide range, which is why I said "most of us" and I stand by that. This is a luxury car forum, and look at the cars most of the posters here drive. We're all doing quite well.

That's exactly my point. It's not. So their pricing is crazy, esp the 72k for the "performance" package.

If you make a (backbone for the brand) product to compete against a similar product, how do you define success?

I just don’t see how you can say the MDX’s pricing is “crazy”, in any way shape or form. I see the argument for the Type S but not the other models.

Have you looked at the pricing for a Grand Cherokee or an Explorer or something like that lately? The MDX is priced right in line with those despite being a luxury brand.

$62k for an Advance and $55k for a well
equipped tech package car, how is that “insane pricing”?!

As for how do you define success, you define success by making an product that sells well, is well regarded and makes a healthy profit. There is just no argument that the MDX is not a successful product.

Yup, those were 2 of the many three row suv's we checked out. They are all in the $49-55k range these days. Some of that is due to markups or dealer added mandatory accessories. That is the reality we are in.

If you are in the market for a new 3-row SUV right now, be prepared to pay $45k+ on anything out there, regardless if it's mainstream/premium/luxury.

Here are some of the numbers that i saved:

2022 Ford explorer limited 4x2: $58k-61k OTD
2022 Hyundai Palisade SEl FWD: $56k OTD
2022 Highlander limited FWD: $57k OTD
2022 MDX (any package): MSRP + ~$2500 dealer mandatory accessories

I didn't bother saving many others since everything was basically somewhere in the $50-60k range, outside of the non-premium lux brands (MB, BMW, etc).

Yes, but did mine at a media drive event.

Sell the same car twice is basically BMW's business model in a nutshell, others are following the same lead.
I figured that's the plan....guess I'm not crazy to see it that way lol!

Did you ad Ford Explorer and the Highlander to the mix now? I have a soft spot for the Explorer. My brother has a Palisade, he L0VES it.

No, but they were part of the ~22-25 crossovers we checked out. Just wanted to share current pricing on them.

We are pretty much settled on the MDX. Awd and either tech or advance.

I'm out of town and haven't checked site for a while, but a couple of comments on MDX leases.
My last two Advance MDXs have been leases. Acura did not have inflated residuals. They did it with dealer incentives. In March 2020 in addition to loyalty incentives, they had $8,500 of dealer incentives, which got my capitalized cost down from the $59k MSRP to $46,300. The residual is 54%, or $32,000. Pretax lease payment is $565. Obviously, those days are gone!

Another thing Acura does re loyalty, with new lease they will waive up to 7,500 of overage miles, or carryover unused miles into new lease. I carried over 10k miles from my 2017 lease which enabled my 2020 lease to be based on 10k per year, but have 40k miles total.

ABC- are there any MDXs available where you are? Will you be ordering and then wait a few months?

As a point of comparison my friend's 2022 Tech lease is $765.
