Palisade, MDX or Q7?
We'll agree to disagree. Of course most Americans cannot afford a $1,000 car payment. That simply has no bearing on our discussion.
i don't virtue signal based on what i own, or make fun of those who don't/can't.
that is highly judgmental and frankly you have no idea. based on my experience here, i'd say there's a very wide range of demographics/wealth.

I just don’t see how you can say the MDX’s pricing is “crazy”, in any way shape or form. I see the argument for the Type S but not the other models.
Have you looked at the pricing for a Grand Cherokee or an Explorer or something like that lately? The MDX is priced right in line with those despite being a luxury brand.
$62k for an Advance and $55k for a well
equipped tech package car, how is that “insane pricing”?!
As for how do you define success, you define success by making an product that sells well, is well regarded and makes a healthy profit. There is just no argument that the MDX is not a successful product.

If you are in the market for a new 3-row SUV right now, be prepared to pay $45k+ on anything out there, regardless if it's mainstream/premium/luxury.
Here are some of the numbers that i saved:
2022 Ford explorer limited 4x2: $58k-61k OTD
2022 Hyundai Palisade SEl FWD: $56k OTD
2022 Highlander limited FWD: $57k OTD
2022 MDX (any package): MSRP + ~$2500 dealer mandatory accessories
I didn't bother saving many others since everything was basically somewhere in the $50-60k range, outside of the non-premium lux brands (MB, BMW, etc).

You are in Northern Virginia, aren't you? Pohanka Acura, in Chantilly, on Route 50, right next to Pohanka Lexus and Pohanka Chevy, is a pretty-good-sized Acura dealership (Acura shops, in general, tend to be on the smaller size), and should have a generally good selection of vehicles in stock. I've done some review/test-drives there, and my brother's company sent him out there to pick up a new TLX for their CEO.
Conquest, market share, keeping customers from switching brands, but above all to ensure a solid future CPO supply.
Subvented leasing with artificially high residuals virtually ensures that most cars won't get bought out at lease end and will be returned to be sold as a high-margin CPO while the customer gets upsold into another rinse and repeat lease.
Sell the same car twice is basically BMW's business model in a nutshell, others are following the same lead.

We are pretty much settled on the MDX. Awd and either tech or advance.
I'm out of town and haven't checked site for a while, but a couple of comments on MDX leases.
My last two Advance MDXs have been leases. Acura did not have inflated residuals. They did it with dealer incentives. In March 2020 in addition to loyalty incentives, they had $8,500 of dealer incentives, which got my capitalized cost down from the $59k MSRP to $46,300. The residual is 54%, or $32,000. Pretax lease payment is $565. Obviously, those days are gone!
Another thing Acura does re loyalty, with new lease they will waive up to 7,500 of overage miles, or carryover unused miles into new lease. I carried over 10k miles from my 2017 lease which enabled my 2020 lease to be based on 10k per year, but have 40k miles total.
