We got 2022 MDX Tech in December, 2021. Among all MDX trim, the Tech package get the best C/P value. Although the audio system is very basic, I do not see the value of pay extra just for the upgraded audio system. The biggest complaint we have is the built quality of this gen MDX. A lot of fit and finish problems for 2022 MDX such as panel gap, and panels alignment issues. 10 speed trans is very smooth. New wishbone front suspension makes this 7 seater handles better than my current 2016 RX 350 FSport.

You need to expand your search radius. A lot of Acura dealers do not charge markup. When we ordered our MDX Tech in Sept. 2021, the dealer still honored Costco Auto Pricing. With Conquest incentive, we actually paid almost $3000 under MSRP when the car arrived in December. Yet Acura raised the MSRP for another $1000 in January, 2022 and recently dropped the Conquest incentive and raised the promotional APR to 3.9%.

I'm just going by this one experience with this one person I know, he didnt shop dealers he just went to the one he always went to. I'm sure you're correct.

Tech vs Advance package to me is if you want a more luxury car experience or not. The additions to the Advance package make the MDX feel more legitimately luxurious instead of "nice Honda" like Acuras typically feel. My friend's is the Tech trim, I personally would get the Advance. The real wood trim, ambient lighting, piping on the seats, dynamic seats and the better audio make the vehicle feel more premium and special for sure.

i would get the Advance for the 3D audio and the surround view camera alone.
Yeah that system is nice. It blows away BMW's BW. That and other stuff you listed are well worth the upgrade. Even the ambient lighting where some don't like... I think when done right, it adds a nice touch to the vehicle.

Has anyone tested out the Type S?
Will be starting my search soon as our X3 lease is coming up later this year.

The question I see come up with it is whether the 45 more HP and the air suspension(their 1st) and the appearance package is worth $10k more than the Advance.

I would think it's not worth it since the Type S will likely be marked up like crazy. Air suspension doesn't equal reliability

Well, there has been a report of Air suspension problem on MDX Type-S already: (Leaking Air, less than 1000 miles)

Wow, and no expected delivery date for the part. I'd be pissed by spending 72 grand on a brand new car and immediately after driving off the lot, the air suspension goes out.

Putting air suspension in a Type S doesn't make sense. People who buy that trim are going to drive like maniacs and cause problems to the air suspension. I can see a ton of these going out well before 50 or 60k miles.

The ELS audio on the higher MDX trims has always been excellent, it's a great factory system. We had the prior gen MDX with the active damping/suspension, and we felt it drove pretty well. That wasn't air suspension, though, just electronically adjustable shocks but they reduced body roll and improved ride/handling.

The air suspension will really elevate the driving experience of the MDX though. As with any car, if you're going to buy a car and keep it a long time air suspension is always a liability though.

I would always choose the air suspension over coil suspension though where its available.

Yeah, I saw that too.
I guess in the pre-pandemic world where you could have gotten 8-10% off on this it would have made sense, but $72k+ for this is a bit much. I would love to see the A Spec package with some of the options from the Advance but that's probably not likely to happen.

The issue is not 7 or 8 grand because you do get quite more stuff to justify that cost. The issue is how much this car costs after this upgrade. 72K is a lot for an Acura. It's already a battle for MDX to fight German rivals, and this price tag just does not help. At the end of the day, it's an MDX. It would be more practical if it's priced inline with the RX.

It's not that fast and I don't really understand why that would cause issues with the air suspensions so early. It's not like X5 Ms and GLE 63s and SQ7s are on the bump stops by 60k mi and they're much faster.

Agree, dumb things like not having air vents in the 3rd row generally become less excusable at that price point.
