Even my Odyssey has third row air vents...I guess this is what happens when you spin the thing off onto its own dedicated platform.

An MDX advance is not $72k, its $62k. The Type S is $72k. $62k for an Advance is a good value and right in line with the RX.

I wouldn't call that a "Good Value". Do you think most Americans can afford a $1000 car note?

Most Americans aren't luxury car buyers. Depends on their bills and how much money they make. For a lot of people this isn't a bad deal. Everyone's definition of value is different.

A lot of fit and finish problems for 2022 MDX such as panel gap, and panels alignment issues. 10 speed trans is very smooth. New wishbone front suspension makes this 7 seater handles better than my current 2016 RX 350 FSport.
Great to hear you are mostly satisfied with it. I didn't notice any panel issues in the one we test drove, but i wasn't exactly looking for that. Will need to check it out before we sign. Any other tips you would suggest we check on/ask about before we sign? Thanks for the heads up!

Tech w/ awd. I don't think we'll spring for the Advance, but maybe if the wifey is interested.

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised when i called our insurance co and they told us it would be ~$350 more a year with no changes to policy outside of removing the IS250 (trading it in). I was ready for a much larger jump in price.

i hear ya on that. And we could nitpick lots of things on all ~22 crossovers we checked out. But 3rd row vents, for our purpose, is not a deal breaker.

This is a ridiculous statement. What most Americans can or can't afford is immaterial to the value of this car. Its compared to other similar vehicles, and yes $62,000 is a good value when you look at other luxury SUVs of similar size and features. The Germans optioned similarly are going to be $15,000 more expensive, the RX is similar in price and isn't nearly as compelling a vehicle.

There are vehicles that are and aren't good values at all different price points, including vehicles that are accessible to more people. Its capitalism pal, some have, some have more and some don't.

Thanks for the info. I attempted to build an RX. I don't know what else I could put in to make it more expensive. Even 62k is expensive for an MDX IMO. In my view and those I know, MDX is viewed as the less luxurious one. I know you don't care about RX but those I know...I remember they would go with RX first, if they couldn't, then they would look into MDX. Things might have changed but the March sales numbers still show a significant difference between the two. 9,754 vs 6,405?

You need to build an RX350L, not a 2 row RX350. Having driven both vehicles though, the MDX is a superior vehicle and I would buy one over a loaded RX every day of the week. The third row is also usable in the MDX where is totally unusable in the RX350L. Shopping for a 3 row crossover I wouldn't even consider an RX.

Here is an RX-L optioned to compete with the MDX advance, same price, thats not a coincidence lol

I see... and agree I would not get an RX for myself. In fact I find all the excuses to avoid driving hers. And would take MDX if I had to choose between the two. But the thing is... Some of us alike will consider MDX over RX but the number is not significant. Hence it shows on the sales numbers. MDX seems to be a better fighter against German rivals in this group, but then they would need Type S to come closer and the 72K would make it an unfavorable one. IMO they are in the position that will only work for a small group of buyers.

Sales figures aren't everything, and often I have found the vehicle that is the sales leader is not the best vehicle in the segment by a mile. In fact there are only a few segments where I would choose the vehicle that is the sales leader. The MDX is a huge success, there's no denying that...

The RX is a two row vehicle first, and the VAST majority of those sales are the 5 seater, its really a different buyer. A vehicle like the MDX or the QX60 was designed from the ground up as a 3 row vehicle, and hence you wind up with a much better product. If I didn't need 3 rows, I would be in a different segment entirely, I would get an X5 or something.

The Type S is really a passion project for Acura made for Acura fans.

I like the MDX the best. Followed by the Pallisade. Hyundai truly should have made Genesis badged Pallisade

I'd get the MDX over the RX just so I don't have to look at that awful spindle grille. I can't believe they didn't retire that thing yet.

RX is not a choice. Q7 the Hyundai or the Acura.
Audi and Acura are luxury brands. Hyundai is not.

They were discussing the MDX and RX, comparing the two. I was saying if I were forced to pick between the two I'd take the MDX.
