3 great choices, I don’t think you can miss with any of these. At MSRP, I’d take the Palisade altogether I prefer the Telluride. However, it sounds like the markup is bringing the price close to the others.

Yeah, Palisade ain't worth what dealers are asking these days. MDX is what I'd go with. I have the same engine in my Odyssey, and it's smooth, powerful and the VTEC crossover is actually unexpectedly fun.

For long term ownership - definitely go with MDX.

It has great styling, should be fairly reliable as the V6 has been around for sometime.

It's true that the 3.5 has been around for a long time, but it's only been direct injected since 2017, and it's caused problems.

I personally don't see what these three have in common except they are in the same category. They are so different IMO. If long term is your key factor, I would go with MDX. At the least you get to enjoy the sound system. I've seen ads for MSRP and 0% on MDX too. You mentioned you dropped some other ones and kept these... What was the reason you dropped X5/GLE and kept Q7?

Really what issues?
I know Honda had some issues with auto trans back in the day?
MDX has 9speed I believe

The 9 speed was not a very good transmission. Honda has dropped it. Unfortunately I have one in the Odyssey, and it's not very refined. The MDX gets the much-better 10 speed.

The engine had a warranty extension for the fuel injectors. They'd throw a code for improper AFR and the fix was to replace all of them. Happened to my Odyssey. There's also a TSB for the fuel pump, which can get disconcertingly noisy.

Being on my fifth MDX, that would get my vote. Never had any serious issues on any of them. I considered the 2022 Advance and Type S Advance for now or when the lease on my 2020 Advance is up in March, but likely not worth the difference to me to pay MSRP on 2022 vs $32k and keep my 2020.

Not sure what trim you are looking at but since you plan on keeping it a long time, I would recommend Advance at 63k or decide if it is worth another $10k to upgrade to Type S Advance.

With regard to track pad, it is not like a touch pad on a laptop. You touch pad in same area of pad as app, etc. appears on screen. Have a couple of friends with either a RDX or MDX with this touchpad and they had no trouble getting used to it.

With regard to other models, I have shopped several over time. One thing I am a stickler for is hauling multiple sets of golf clubs. I can put my clubs across, behind the second row seats in the MDX. To do similar, I have to go to X7 or GLS. Have not tried in Palisade. Clubs would probably work in Q7.

Thanks for your input, everyone! It is very much appreciated.

I believe we are sold on the MDX. Between price, features, size, insurance rate, maintenance costs, IIHS rating (stellar), etc... This seems like a winner.

I still plan on checking out the new QX60 when inventory arrives, but i think the MDX will be in our driveway.

What trim are you thinking of? If I were wanting an MDX I'd probably just stick with the tech package. An extra 7 or 8 grand for side bolsters in the seats and a heated steering wheel seems kind of steep.

As an aside re insurance. Our auto policy renews this month and I was surprised at the rate difference. The premium on the 2019 ES300h Luxury is 61% higher than the 2020 Acura Advance premium, while the premium on the 2015 S550 is 86% higher than the MDX premium.

You get way more than that with the Advance package, you get roof rails, fog lights, hands free tailgate, better front seats in many ways, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, remote start, ambient lighting in the cabin, real wood trim, the ELS 3D audio, more charging ports in the second and third rows, heads up display, surround view camera.

i would get the Advance for the 3D audio and the surround view camera alone.
