not really 3s flat, seems like 0-100kmh is pretty steady 4s. But yes, it is faster than GR Yaris.
However, that sheer 0-100kmh is not the point, whoever is just interested in mashing their pedal few times per day, should really get an EV. Like me.
Whoever wants to have great driving experience and enjoy every second of it, GR Yaris/Corolla will work really well.
You'd be surprised. Faster than the Performance 3 but its $100k car when its loaded. This GR Yaris is priced like an M240 but may get into M2 prices due to scarcity. At these prices, its more like Supra or M2 but those aren't really a hot-hatch.

Super-Fugly on the outside, but, underneath, looks like some interesting mechanicals, particularly since Subaru and Mitsubishi gave up selling Pocket-Rockets in the U.S.,
hehe, you're probably not the target customer for this one MM, I think it looks pretty damn good inside and out......
also......... no way in hell would I pay even $40K for that car.
I think you are confusing 0-60 with 1/4 mile. M3P tapers off after 150kmh, as it should with single gear.
Back to this story, M3 Competition will be faster than GR Yaris, by about 1s to 60 or 1/4, but again point of GR Corolla is not times on drag strip.
Did you see the video I posted...the new M3 X-drive is as fast or faster than the Model 3 Performance which is about 3.1s to 60. It actually started pulling on the Model 3 Performance before 60 in that vid. The draggy times on the BMW forums are in that 3.1s to 60 times too. Its pushing way over 500hp on dynos so not surprised at the insane performance. The GR cars would be a good competition for the M2, but that M3 is about 2s faster to 60 which would be a massacre.

That's a difference so vast it's not even worth wasting the fuel/tires to see what happens. It's like a stock 5.0 trying to race my A8 or your M3, a waste of time......heck even a hellcat on a street start would be a waste
Anyone old enough to remember the old GT-4 models with the famous 3S-GTE engine, this will bring them back to those times. Back to the days when cars were actually cars rather than computer on wheels.

The GR corolla will be slightly heavy in regard of the purpose built Yaris. This will give him a little bit more consistency but less ability to improvise when driven on edge. I think it's better suited for the american market, where the peoples tend to drive in straight line.
But stupid question of mine, did you not have a law that is incoming with a mandotry 49 mpg for new cars, or was it an april foolsday news ?

New vehicles here must average 40 mpg by 2026 up from 24 mpg. 49 mpg is for the fleet average

Reason: spelling
The upcoming 2023 Civic Type-R looking like it will retain its title as the hot hatch track king, but the GR Corolla should be more fun on the street. Really looking forward to both options. Throw in the Veloster N and Golf R in the comparison too.
