What makes German auto engineering different than Asian or American engineering
As one of the people at work says: the BMW E9X with AWD has an amazing ability to drift in snow when you learn about its traction control features and then turn them off. Predictable handling and smooth power.
The 4Runner's interesting feature is not a washer reservoir dipstick, or its rear window sliding all the way up/down on auto (including using the factory remote to do that), but its rear side window defroster. Those two side windows get a defroster grid too, so you don't have to scrape away at it on an icy morning.

so it’s not a windshield washer dipstick? But it’s inside the washer fluid reservoir and it says LOW
Yes, you could be right. Washer fluid reservoir dipstick? I don't need it - I can see the fluid as I fill the tank and it comes up to the neck. The light on my Accord coupe will also tell me my windshield washer fluid is low. It's a common feature for 30+ years. Heck my Mazda 626 had that way back in the stone age days.
I know. I don’t need it either. The dash has a low washer light that lit up. But for some reason I never knew that it was there. Until today. Just the strangest thing to include it

Since we're talking about LOW indicators, I have to give German a kudo for audio alerts. One time I was traveling long distance with our Lexus, when I remembered to check the gas gauge, the low light was already on. I was in the middle of an isolated area so was kind of freaked out and had to stop to locate a closest gas station. Luckily it wasn't too far. Another thing I find interesting is their suggested oil changes are not fixed like Lexus. Not sure how much of improvement but they certainly thought about how oil was used not just based off mileage/time.

I actually like the Lexus light being silent, I check my gauges so often I never really needed a tone to tell me I'm low
I usually re-fill at 1/3 but sometimes I forget and it's nice to have an audio reminder. Yep they give you an audio alert for that too and it pops up on the HUD.
I drove my Jeep for 2 years with no gas gauge function lol! I would certainly hope I never somehow miss the level on a working gauge since I got used to checking the ODO for distance I have gone from that old thing/me being lazy and not bothering to replace it.
Lol same, Yukon's gauges don't work except the tach. Redundant digital range in the trip computer helped lol. Plus I could tell once it gets low on gas because it cranks an extra turn or two when starting. Talk about rigged, or being cheap! Lol.
My jeep technically has everything, EVERYTHING working.....not necessarily perfectly but no warning lights, all instruments work, all speakers work, all switches etc, you get the idea....it will get one more fix session since 350k miles is my limit how long I will keep it since I have already given it three sessions 50k apart. I have other cars now since the Jeep was my starter beater alongside my first car so it was kept around even as I moved on to much better daily drivers since it was so useful at towing/hauling/beating the hell out of it off-road. My wife loves the car and is part of the reason it's still around, she is really emotionally attached to it regardless of how annoying it is to live with sometimes.
It's replacement will likely be a Maverick since I can't help but liking it despite my hatred for ford since it is just a fantastic blend of factors in a cheap car I will not have to be careful with.
