Nah it's the whole cluster, typical GM crap interior from that era. But like I said, we don't go anywhere...not worth fixing. I need to sell or donate that truck anyway but like you it has sentimental value to me, and as neglected as it is it still refuses to break. The air conditioning will freeze an eskimo.

I have other cars now since the Jeep was my starter beater alongside my first car so it was kept around even as I moved on to much better daily drivers since it was so useful at towing/hauling/beating the hell out of it off-road. My wife loves the car and is part of the reason it's still around, she is really emotionally attached to it regardless of how annoying it is to live with sometimes.

It's replacement will likely be a Maverick since I can't help but liking it despite my hatred for ford since it is just a fantastic blend of factors in a cheap car I will not have to be careful with.
Oh yeah the GMC total beater, just the powertrain was/is nice, still. I totally get attachment to cars, obviously.

I mean......if you have your gear ratios memorized and the odometer works...I wouldn't tolerate it though, I expect everything to work properly. For me if something breaks that can't be replaced or it gets rust it's gone.

This is correct, the tach works still and I agree. Granted I wouldn't drive this truck cross country. GM was weak in that era with the gauge clusters (and CD players..and..etc lol), pretty badly. It is simple as cake to gauge speed with no speedo around town, on the highway not so much. Speedo apps work though which I would use on interstates, lmao. (I take "rigging" to the next level I feel like.)

That's something we strongly agree on lol! I can't tolerate so much as a trim pin missing...a non-functional system or broken interior bit is maddening.

I used to be EXACTLY the same but I've changed a bit over the years. I get it though. I don't want broken stuff either, but I don't care on a beater that old and junked. I finally bit the dust and fixed the door lock on my LS a couple years ago. I had had enough of that. I have headlights I need installed also but I just haven't gotten around to it yet, I already have the replacements.

As I was driving my 460 home I had my headlight detailer (I'm not touching a $1000+ headlight) start out toward my house so that I could get the fogs and drivers main polished out. I can not stand anything less than perfectly clear lenses lol!

I become actually angry. It's very rare I get mad and even more so outwardly and a car not doing it's functions is one of the few ways to get me there.

Of course!!! My first car was a 1993 Taurus SHO automatic. A neighbor had one that was in just amazing shape and felt good so I figured it was a decent car. Learned my lesson the hard way there, I have NO IDEA what I was thinking. That car was MADDENING. Literally in the shop every other week. Next car was a Maxima, it was absolutely STUNNING the difference in quality (duh).

Haha, I'm the same way, I can't have anything not working, I even stress out if there are some missing underbody/underhood clips, I have to have everything perfect.
