Default 2023 BMW 8 Series refresh gets glowing grille

Thankfully it didn't get the beaver teeth with the refresh. IMO the 8GC is currently the best-looking BMW. For whatever reason though, the more powerful mild hybrid version of the B58 from the 5 Series refresh didn't get carried over.

A minor refresh for the 8-series and high-performance M8 brings a larger infotainment screen, small exterior tweaks, and several new paint hues.
  • BMW has given the 8-series and M8 a refresh for 2023, with an updated grille that now comes illuminated as standard.
  • New colors are available across the lineup, and all 8-series and M8 models have a 12.3-inch center screen, up from 10.3 inches.
  • The M8 can now be optioned with M Carbon bucket seats and adds a new interior color scheme of black and Sakhir Orange.

I think it's only alright. Compared to the LC500, it looks boring and just overall similar to any other BMW in the lineup... What's up with these manufacturers adding all these lighting elements to the grille/emblems? Looks so tacky and out of place.

I agree about the coupe, it just looks like a blown up Mustang. The Gran Coupe though is my favorite design of all the coupe-sedans sold at the moment, even though it somewhat looks like a blown up Kia Stinger lol. It almost feels as if the GC was designed first and then the regular coupe and convertible were afterthoughts.

LC500 definitely looks better.

I think BMW is starting to lose their way

This car should never have been called an 8series.

I think it will be discontinued after this production run ends. Sales have been lukewarm.

M8 GranCoupe is decent looking but not “special” especially for its price.

It was obviously meant to be a 6 Series but BMW fudged that up by transferring that name to the hideous 6 Series GT for no discernable reason.

The i8 is a much better at paying homage to the original 90ies 8 series, and it was introduced when EVs were actually cool, and you didn't have to adopt a cringe ideology to drive an EV. The current 8 series is just terrible, both the coupe and the sedan version. The glowing grille is already available on several other BMW models, it looks retarded.

As recently as just a couple of years ago I have said "I will own a BMW". Previously I came super close to buying a manual 335i, until the salesman pissed me off too badly. But lately, their styling direction (and continual elimination of manual transmissions) is turning me a bit sour on the brand. I just don't like their direction anymore.

Nobody hates the grill on the 8series and you can turn the feature off.
I’m happy the update didn’t mess with styling as it can only be worse.

They still have the sportiest line up of cars and SUVs.
The new M2 should be great and will have a manual.

I do agree the new styling is horrendous and its not just the grills.

Whats the latest on the upcoming M2? Are they going to molest it with AWD?

Don't like it at all. BMW used to have one of the most elegant iconic looks out there now they are exaggerating everything just for the sake of it.
