Tesla Cybertruck
If it has 4x4 it is..... I'd avoid buying Capstone for it when there's a TRD, but all trucks are built tough for off roading and work. That's why we like them. I personally don't get buying a truck with no 4x4, but they still sell like crazy because they're tough and people like them.
Exactly.
Exactly.
true! besides actual work trucks, people buy trucks for the image more than anything. most people never tow. never haul. rarely have more than 1 person in them. total waste, but hey, this is 'merica... people should be able to do things they like!
they've come a loooong way and are much more refined in ride, noise, etc., but if you drive in an f-150 and then drive in a nice sedan, there's NO comparison.
you mentioned 'tough' a couple of times, and of course trucks still scratch and dent easily, but the tough part is generally because of the rugged suspension, axles, bof box frame, etc. that makes it very rigid.
yeah when that 'friend' asks for help to move that bed, sofa, or big appliance.
tesla will have the last laugh. i expect software updates to make the CT a monster off road.
Trucks are so ridiculous now they're basically luxury cars.

Everyone may not tow and work a truck to death but I'd say at least 95% of pickup owners have utilized the bed for some convenience...

I'll be laughing, actually. I already am, I saw some video of a CT going up a muddy incline my rwd LS430 would handle fine and the owner was trying to call it "off roading".
If it wasn't properly designed for hard off roading, no OTA update is going to make a significant difference.
100%. I love that there are people who think I shouldn't have an 8 passenger LX570 that is driven alone 97% of the time that gets 12mpg.
Yes a luxury sedan will ride better. But not by that much anymore. Have you driven an Escalade or Denali??
Right......
Lol you just gotta tell em "no." All of my friends can afford to rent a truck if they need one. People have tried to ask to use the LX for furniture, spouse's co-workers. Not just no, hell no. Get your own SUV... we aren't 19 year old kids anymore living in dorms and apartments. I am not scuffing up the absolutely perfect headliner in my truck, or anything else. Go pay literally $25 at U-Haul.

I can testify how much OTA updates improve EV'S. When I first got my Polestar, I had 408 HP, and was getting around 90 mpg's, 0 to 60 around 4.6 seconds. It had buggy throttle response, and some other quirks. With a few updates, it now has 476 HP, can do 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds, and averages 99 MPG. I've embarrassed so many "fast" cars I almost feel embarrassed for them. (Mustang GT, Charger RT/SRT, BMW M2/M3). I call her my silent V8 killer 🤣🤣

Here's a video of a Model Y beating Off road vehicles up a sand dune:

In no way is a Model Y an off road vehicle, yet look how it does with the proper software calibration. If the Y can do it, the Cyber Truck is going to do it hundreds of times better once the software is properly updated and locking differentials are enabled

The last part is completely not true. Tesla hasn't enabled the locking differentials, which is why they struggle in some scenarios. I'm not a Cyber Truck fan, but as Bit mentioned, once they enable this feature, and continue to update it through OTA, it's going to outperform any truck on the road. Save this part I wrote for future reference 🙂
🤣
🤣
The Model Y, which is not even an off road vehicle outperformed several "Off Road" vehicles, why wouldn't the Cyber Truck? I'm going to be sending you so many videos when the Cyber Truck is fully updated, you're going to probably block me 🤣🤣🤣

An OTA update for locking differentials? Versus a button in the truck and the truck having mechanical diffs, not ones they download from the internet.
I'd never block you. But this thing isn't going to win any awards off road for raw capability. I can send plenty of true off road dedicated videos with off road focused trucks conquering stuff that a CT could never do...

I'm guessing you haven't seen how electric motors work. Everything is in the motor, including the gearing. For efficiency purposes, they act like an Open Diff. It's easy to lock the diffs using software. You can also control individual motors through microcontrollers, sending or pulling power to a specific wheel when needed, like what Rivian does. My Model Y has a "Mud and Snow" mode, which essentially acts like a locking differential when enabled. Rivians do something similar, except they do it through sending or pulling power from individual motors, which why they are so awesome off road. Micro controlling of individual motors is also why EV's get off the line super fast without losing traction.
Think of Tesla like Microsoft. They give you Windows Vista (which is buggy and incomplete), than slowly over time add features and fix bugs. In the end, you have Windows 10, which is probably what they should released in the first place, but that's how Tesla works to get products out quickly, which is why I would never, ever buy a first gen Tesla vehicle

Lol darn. The long wheel base and sub par articulation will hold the cyber truck back from competing at the upper echelon of off-roaders which is fine. Don't think the cybertruck nor most of its buyers really care about that.
I agree with that. Nobody is buying a CT to off road it. But that won't stop Youtubers from doing it
Let me clarify one more thing. I don't think the CT would be able hit off road courses where it gets airborne. That's Raptor territory
